A screen at Sohna Chowk in Gurugram has been running for a few days now. We haven't inaugurated it. We haven't announced it. It is still in testing.

It is already trending on X, with 100+ videos on Instagram and pickup from Times of India and CNN.

What it does is simple. It reads a number plate, checks VAHAN, and shows whether that car has a pending challan, expired insurance or a lapsed PUC. If everything is in order, it says that too.

Some people are asking if this is public shaming. Fair question. But most people driving on lapsed insurance don't know it has lapsed. Nobody tells them until something goes wrong.

Here is why we built it. 1.8 lakh Indians die on our roads every year. Almost all of it preventable.

A pending challan is not a fine waiting to be paid. It is a record of a habit nobody has corrected yet. Expired insurance is not paperwork. It is a family with no cover on the worst day of their life.

Behaviour changes when someone is watching. We wanted the road itself to do that quietly, before a policeman or a hospital has to.

आज नवी #दिल्ली येथे केंद्रीय अल्पसंख्याक विकास व वित्त महामंडळ कार्यालयास भेट दिली. यावेळी महामंडळाच्या अध्यक्ष व व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक डॉ. अभा राणी सिंह (IRS) यांची भेट घेऊन विविध महत्त्वाच्या विषयांवर सविस्तर चर्चा करण्यात आली.

मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली महाराष्ट्र शासनाने शिक्षणाला सर्वोच्च प्राधान्य देत अल्पसंख्याक समाजातील विद्यार्थ्यांना मोठ्या प्रमाणावर शैक्षणिक कर्ज उपलब्ध करून देण्याचे काम केले आहे. त्याच धर्तीवर अल्पसंख्याक महिलांच्या आर्थिक सक्षमीकरणासाठी बचत गटांच्या माध्यमातून राबविण्यात येणाऱ्या उपक्रमांबाबत सकारात्मक चर्चा झाली. या संदर्भात लवकरच ठोस निर्णय घेण्यात येईल, असा विश्वास मा. संचालकांनी व्यक्त केला. तसेच युवकांना स्वयंरोजगार, कौशल्य विकास आणि विविध शासकीय योजनांचा अधिकाधिक लाभ कसा मिळवून देता येईल, यावरही मुद्देसुद्द चर्चा झाली.

तसेच महाराष्ट्र आणि केंद्र शासन यांच्यातील समन्वय प्रक्रियेत निर्माण होणाऱ्या अडचणींवरही लवकरात लवकर तोडगा काढण्यासाठी परस्पर समन्वयाने काम करण्याबाबत एकमत झाले. समाजाच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी केंद्र शासनाच्या योजनांचा लाभ तळागाळापर्यंत पोहोचविण्याच्या दिशेने ही भेट निश्चितच महत्त्वपूर्ण ठरेल.

यावेळी श्री. अनिल कुमार, जनरल मॅनेजर (प्रोजेक्ट, लीगल अँड रिकव्हरी) हेही उपस्थित होते.
