@ugc_india This is what we, the direct PhD holders, were struggling for. Thank you, UGC, for giving hope to us and the upcoming generations. I shall provide my constructive feedback by the deadline.

In an opinion piece in The Hindustan Times, Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC (@mamidala90) writes: "We must discard the widespread perception that more research publications make someone more qualified than those excelling in areas like establishing start-ups or entrepreneurship. HEIs must not hesitate to select candidates for faculty positions based on their research discipline, even if their undergraduate or post-graduate studies were in different subjects."

@ugc_india@DainikBhaskar@PMOIndia@EduMinOfIndia@PIB_India That's a great releif. Thank you๐คฉ
Imagine being the All India 4th rank holder in NET in Phy. Sc.
SPMF+PMRF holder and
with BTech+PHD from IITG.
Still NOT eligible for assistant professor role in Indian colleges and universities because of the 2018 regulations
is NOT COOL!
I am seeing some very innovative and fancy #undergraduate engineering programmes offered by some new-age universities in India. My worry is, these students graduating with fancy discipline titles will neither be eligible for masters programmes in India (they can't take GATE in any of the available streams) nor for any government jobs. Government jobs specify the department names in the eligibility criteria. Of course these students can join private industries or go abroad.
Students and parents need to be mindful of what they are getting into. That's my only point.
@ramgopal_rao I completely agree with you sir. It happened to me. I completed BTech in Engineering Physics from IITG, then I directly joined PhD. Now when I go to University/colleges for prof. postion, they ask my PG degree and reject my candidature for not having it. No help received frm any1
@ugc_india@PMOIndia@EduMinOfIndia@PIB_India Is 4-yr UG to direct PhD (w/o masters) fake?
Bcz nobody recognises this. They ask 55% in PG and give 0 marks for PG in https://t.co/xg3t431iAM. interview.
How to prove, I should be considered?
Why you give me prestigious fellowships 4 my PhD after BTech if I'd to face this?

@ugc_india@mamidala90 Also its Time to revise UGC guideline 2018 for faculty recruitment.
4 yr UG to Direct PhD holders (w/o masters degree) can't get positions otherwise.
@PIB_India Please stop spreading fake news. This CPGRAMS portal is nothing but a scam. It is just for show off.
In reality, my grievance is pending for around 70 days. If I mail, they wont reply. If I call, they will just ask me to call next week. They dont bother to help. @EduMinOfIndia
