@Larpetsu@Jojobest1fan@DbsContents They’re releasing first 3 episodes in the form of a movie in theatres before 25th july i.e. before anime starts premiering in selected locations
@aps_twt7@animeupdates Tbf this is not a great attitude, because if manga fans won’t purchase them then they’ll have to shut off the business which somewhat stops other coming to India too. Ofc it depends upon your pocket and how they price it but still whosoever can afford should buy them.
Brahma became Bonten. Vishnu became Bichuten. Shiva became Daikoku. Ganesha became Kangiten. Lakshmi became Kichijoten. Saraswati became Benzaiten. Indra became Taishakuten. Yama became Enma.
The names changed. The visual styles changed. But they stayed. They became part of the fabric of Japanese spiritual life for the next fifteen hundred years.
After yesterday's post from this Cuckarot larper, we saw a huge wave of racist comments towards Indians.
A lot of people responded by pointing out how many major anime draw from Indian mythology directly or indirectly. People talked about Naruto's chakra system, DBZ, Luffy's Bajrang Gun, and many other examples.
But all of that is still pretty superficial.
The bigger story is that when Buddhism arrived in Japan around 550 CE, it brought Shiva, Vishnu, Indra, and dozens of other Hindu deities with it. Japan adopted Buddhism as a state religion, and within a few generations the entire cosmology became NORMAL. Expected. Invisible.
Japan didn't import Indian mythology as some foreign curiosity. It absorbed an entire framework for understanding reality. KARMA. REINCARNATION. MULTIPLE REALMS OF EXISTENCE. ENLIGHTENMENT AS A GOAL.
Over time, these ideas became deeply ingrained in Japanese culture and part of everyday life.
This matters because anime creators aren't "adding" Indian influence to their stories. They're drawing from their own culture's BONES.
That's why saying anime was merely "influenced" by Indian culture doesn't fully capture what happened.
For more than a millennium, Hindu and Buddhist thought became part of the spiritual foundation of Japan itself.
@RulerTrax@themobots@jamesonen@ChibiReviews You’re either really stupid or way too ignorant. Naruto draws way too much from Hinduism, Indra is an Indian god and Ashura is what was a demon called in vedic texts it’s just that the concept was reversed in manga. sasuke’s summon Garuda is taken from the deity Vishnu’s mount
@gonzarf94@Ronzertt@kirawontmiss It does though now. This feature was added a couple months back, it can sync in other devices if you’re using the same account.
