Comedian Anand Rathnam on racism in Bollywood. (Actually it's colourism, not racism.) Growing up in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the toughest day was the day after the movie Padosan was aired on TV. The whole day and sometimes the entire week, kids would see south Indians and go "Woh Chatur Naar." I was a Delhi born Malayali who looked like a local and spoke Hindi like a native, and yet I had to endure it. In general our neighbours and classmates were great and they respected us, but the Day After Padosan, it was open season.

Similarly, Sikhs were shownd as lassi drinking caricatures. Christians were drunks. Baniyas were wicked. Brahmins were lascivious. Maharashtrian women were flirtatious housemaids.

And the culprits were Punjabi Hindu refugees (Kapoors, Dutts) who escaped Muslim mobs, came to Mumbai and used movies to divide Hindus and show Muslims and Pakistan as noble.

Flashback: A Palestinian mother from Gaza brought her son for life-saving treatment in an Israeli hospital. She says she wants him to become a martyr rather than die from a disease. She let Jews save his life so he could grow up and blow himself up in crowded place in Israel, possibly the same hospital where Jews saved him.

In the video, she explains that Allah (the so-called god of Muslims) obligates all Muslims to wage jihad and practice martyrdom (human sacrifice). She adds that, unlike Jews or Christians in Israel who mourn when children die, Muslims are happy when their children are martyred in jihad (Islam’s holy war) because Allah rewards them with a one-way ticket to paradise.
