#Breaking: #Bangladesh #Hindus have taken to the streets in #Shahbagh #Dhaka to protest the attacks on their person, properties, and places of worship since Aug 5. In fact, the attacks were sporadically taking place even during the peak of #violence centering the #QuotaMovement.

#Bangladesh is under attack from #BNP & #Jamaat #Shibir #militants.

Today, across the country, the #terrorists targetedly attacked @albd1971 party offices, law enforcement agents, journalists and civilians. With a view to securing the unconstitutional fall of a govt, the militants -
- Killed at least 14 cops in Cumilla and Sirajganj and injured dozens;
- Killed at least 19 @albd1971 leaders and workers in multiple districts;
-Attacked and burnt dozens of AL party offices;
- Attacked and looted various religious minority properties;
- Attacked and killed a prominent #Hindu community leader and local councilor Haradhan Ray in Rangpur;
- Attacked several #journalists and killed local journo Prodip Kumar Bhaumik in Sirajganj;
- Attacked, burnt, vandalised and/or looted houses/offices of AL leaders in Barisal, Khulna, Kirshoreganj etc.

This is not an exhaustive list, more info are still coming in about killings and destruction, which will be shared in due course.

This is not politics. The criminals are not students. They are terrorists and they must be stopped.

The international community must take note of these terrorist and violent acts that the #Bangladesh Govt is facing and handling on a daily basis. Unfortunately, int'l #media is portraying a very one-sided picture of the events.

#Bangladesh is observing #nationalmourning today in memory of the murdered victims in clashes during #QuotaReformMovement. As much as 150 people were killed in the conflict and #violence surrounding the movement.

To mark the day, black badges are being worn, and special prayers are being organised in all mosques, temples, churches and pagodas across the country.

The proof of the ‘third party’ has been proven on many occasions. We saw clear handwriting of the BNP and Jamaat—the Islamic radicals—in the destructions. We suspected many of the killings may have been done by the miscreants from within who infiltrated the student movement. Here is an eyewitness account by a friend of one of the deceased students.

“They were not regular students, their approach was different. They had their faces covered with T-shirts and this seemed very suspicious to me. Their approach was also quite aggressive……….

He was shot from the back and the bullet exited from his chest. There were at least 150 people between the police and us. It was very unusual for the bullet to cross everyone and hit my friend. The bullet that hit him was metal bullet, the police was using rubber bullet till then.”
