Dear Sudha Kongara,
Disagreeing is fine.
But branding an entire fan base as “rowdyism” or “goonism” only reflects intolerance.
Vijay fans are questioning narratives, not threatening anyone.
Cinema, like democracy, needs space for dissent.
Let’s also be honest about what’s been happening:
• Your DMK-backed production house announced a Pongal release on the same day Jananayagan’s release date was revealed.
• Your team repeatedly pushed the “organic views” “iykyk” narrative for songs and mocking Jananayagan Song views!
• The release date was shifted from 14th to 10th, clearly to clash with Jananayagan release on the 9th.
• A massive paid digital campaign was run just to cross Jananayagan trailer views.
• Your audio launch was held one day, and the very next day it was telecasted in DMK mouth piece Media Sun TV at the exact same date and time as Jananayagan’s audio launch.
So it’s time to hold your horses and focus on content, instead of blaming audiences and fan bases.
Also, think why youngsters didn’t connect with your film.
And remember one thing, Online noise alone never decides a film’s success or failure.
If it did, your massive online promotions should have worked, but content still didn’t land.
So please don’t assume you made a great film and place the blame elsewhere.
Cinema succeeds or fails on merit, not on manufactured narratives or scapegoats.
People are watching.
People are thinking.
And narratives don’t last forever.
