On 7 July 1999, during the battle for Point 4875 in the Kargil War, Captain Vikram Batra heard a young officer cry out for help after being hit.A JCO stepped forward to rescue him, but Vikram stopped him.“You have a family waiting for you. I’ll go, saab.”Without thinking twice, he ran into a hail of enemy fire. Moments later, a sniper’s bullet struck him.

But Shershah didn’t fall alone.His men, shattered but determined, charged the enemy with everything they had. They fought like lions, captured Point 4875, and raised the Tricolour where Captain Vikram Batra had laid down his life. Today, that peak is known as Batra Top.A few days later, before sunrise on 11 July, India’s braveheart returned to his hometown of Palampur… wrapped in the Tricolour.He came home having given everything he had for Bharat.

Born in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, his bravery, leadership and unwavering love for the nation continue to inspire generations.

Yeh Dil Maange More a battle cry that became a symbol of unmatched courage.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy will live forever.
