It's not a "psyop". The Bottom Billion has discovered social media monetization and entire countries in Africa and South Asia have rewired their economies to produce things that are simply designed to get as many Westerners to consume as possible. And some peripheral economies, as much as we want to pretend, basically have zero macroculture whatsoever so if you grow up in Argentina there's a 80% chance you just get into something American like Hazbin Hotel. The Rest of the World is having a contest of who can get the richest off of melting The Rest of the World's brains, and if we were wise about this we would enclave off the US and EU and Chinese internet from the rest of everywhere else.

@RoomWondrous Even if you have the social skills you also have to find an unusually open group or a way to obfuscate that you are bootstrapping a social life from nothing at a late age since many will somewhat fairly treat it as a red flag and maintain distance.

@BaseballBobby1 @The24thFrame It was the first Zelda release on the "next gen" Game Cube. People were looking forward to what Zelda would look like with the leap forward in graphics and cel-shading...wasn't what many of them had in mind. Mid-lifecycle release with that style might have seen less backlash.
