The new gas field isn’t going to bring down your bills.
Gas is bought & sold globally, so the reality is, fossil fuels controlled by dictators have Britain in a chokehold til we fully embrace gas-free driving & heating and cut the link between electricity and gas.
BUT, fwiw, getting gas locally is still the right move while we’re transitioning off it. It’s a bit cleaner and brings jobs and tax revenue to Britain.

Why? The regulatory purgatory that imprisons UK growth - and will imprison Burnham unless he reforms.

Shelagh Fogarty reacts to the sentencing of a 14-year-old boy who stabbed a girl multiple times after she rejected his advances.
Civilization literally cannot survive this degree of contractor rentseeking. Three years and a quarter-BILLION pounds for this construction is absolutely psychotic, a nation that can no longer build can only crumble.
When I first saw this, I assumed that it was some sort of wind up or parody but, amazingly, it turns out to be true.
This is the man who:
- had one of the worst attendance records on Glasgow Council, with a 50% attendance rate ranking him 84th out of 85 councillors.
- showed up at an event organised by the drug charity Favor UK only for the charity's CEO, Annemarie Ward, to tell him in no uncertain terms that he had only shown up for a photo op and had done nothing else over the previous three years. She then, very firmly, escorted him to the door and ejected him from the meeting.
- shouted at female councillors to “shut up” and threatened a male councillor who intervened with “You can address it with me outside”
- went on a African trip and ran up a data roaming charge on his council-issued mobile phone of £4,579, which he was forced to repay
- abused his role as SNP BAME convenor to push through a (probably illegal) mechanism that guaranteed the top spot on selected regional list ballotsto BAME candidates and made him the number one candidate on the 2021 Lothian Regional list
In short, he's the grifter's grifter. He has been a constant source of embarrassment to the SNP and his BAME list mechanism caused a substantial internal backlash. A less suitable candidate for president would be hard to imagine. Sadly, given the SNP's recent history, that probably makes him the favourite . . . . . .
A short rail bridge over a two-lane road in Oxford took longer to build and cost more (inflation-adjusted) than some of the most famous construction projects in history
This is really pretty significant from Ricky. He's spelling out something fairly clearly that just didn't seem to be acknowledged at all at senior level until he took office. Honesty and pragmatism are essential in public leadership and i take this as an encouraging indicator.
Matthew Lillard feels "ashamed" for acting in "Scream 7" after Melissa Barrera was fired: "I’m on the wrong side of history for that."
“Melissa was fired for what she said after the whole Palestinian — what started happening in Israel. It’s really f*cking bullsh*t and really hard and she’s on the right side of history. When they start coming after your job, sometimes things are worth it… When that happened to Melissa, the whole world didn’t pipe up. But she was a year early on what the f*ck’s going on. But the whole world should have popped up and said, ‘She’s right.’ And they didn’t. And that’s brutal.
I went back to do ‘Scream,’ and I got called out. And I’m like, ‘Oh, f*ck. That’s brutal.’ I feel bad about that. I feel ashamed about that. Because in that moment I was so excited to go back, I didn’t really think about Melissa and that journey. I didn’t say no. I’m embarrassed, that’s the truth… I blew that. I’m on the wrong side of history for that. I still like being in the movie [but] it may not have been the best idea.”
