This is a full school closure, including virtual learning, for all schools/campuses.

All schools & offices in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District will be closed on Monday, August 30 as Hurricane Ida is expected to bring strong winds & rain to our area by tomorrow afternoon which could impact our ability to safely dimiss from school & transport children home.

Dr. Richard E. Holmes became the first African-American student at Mississippi State University when he entered the school on July 19, 1965. Dr. Holmes, we thank you for paving the way. Today we celebrate you.
One additional football note. The season will begin with previously scheduled Week 3 matchups on September 4. Scrimmages are permitted on August 28. Week 1 and Week 2 games will not be made up.
Per MHSAA Executive Committee vote Tuesday, the start of the Fall Sports season is delayed two weeks. Practice for volleyball, cross country and swim starts Aug. 10 with first meets/matches Aug. 24. Football practice begins Aug. 17. Opening games for football start Sept. 4.
