"Autistic Local Man" Charged After Two Women Attacked In Rochdale Parks.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted rape and making threats to kill after two women were attacked in separate parks in Rochdale, hours apart, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Harvey Symes, born 30 April 2003, of Simeon Street, Milnrow, is described by locals as a black British national with autism. He is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this afternoon.

The first incident was reported at around 6.15am, when a woman told officers she had been sexually assaulted by a stranger in Broadfield Park in Rochdale town centre. Just over two hours later, at 8.38am, a second woman reported being attacked by a man she did not know in nearby Milnrow Memorial Park.

Both victims gave similar descriptions of the suspect: a black male wearing a three-piece suit or smart black clothes, a dark coat, and carrying a briefcase. Police later confirmed they had identified CCTV footage of a man matching that description leaving the Ko-Ko Lounge on Packer Street in Rochdale town centre at around 5am, roughly an hour before the first reported assault.

A man in his 20s was arrested later on Saturday on suspicion of two counts of attempted rape. He was subsequently charged with the two attempted rape counts plus threats to kill.

No official police statements or charging documents released in connection with the July 2026 incidents make any reference to autism, learning difficulties, or any related factors. This remains local knowledge only.

Harvey Symes is innocent until proven guilty. Further details of the hearing have not yet been reported.

BLACK MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE OF TWO WOMEN

The man in his 20s has been held on suspicion of attempted rape following the incidents in two Rochdale parks this morning (Saturday, July 25).

The first attack, happened in Broadfield Park in the town centre, at around 6:15am.

The second incident n Milnrow Memorial Park happened around 8:38am.

Both victims had given 'similar' descriptions of the attacker, “a black male believed to have been wearing a three piece suit or smart black clothes, a dark coat’ and carrying a briefcase.

The vile predator is currently in custody being questioned. Let’s hope he’s remanded as if he was released he would pose a threat to women
