@DeborahMeaden Not sure the UK 'has to' import sub standard food. Wouldn't it be better to encourage our farmers to produce more of what we need - to strive for self suffiency - rather than taking land out of production? We don't seem to care about food security - in difference to China.

@BrownCoLLP @EDP24 There is an obsession in our country with preserving all things old. Sometimes that can be positive but on other occasions the result can be 'a right pigs' ear of a building. Retail needs all the help it can get and planners standing in the way of progress needs reining in.

@EDP24 Congratulations to the applicants. In a few years everyone will have forgotten the filling station but will love the local shop. It really shouldn't be so difficult to obtain planning permission for business in this area. We need business to move forward!
