I testify that Jesus is the Christ. That He lives. That He loves each of us and wants the very best for us in the world and throughout eternity. I have listened to the voice of the Spirit bear record to me of this truth and nothing the world has can diminish this knowledge because it is pure light. I love the Lord Jesus. He is my salvation. He is my advocate with the Father. He is my friend.
“If Jesus is true then Joseph Smith must be false” nice false delema. I guess “If George Washington was real, then Abraham Lincoln must be fake.” 💁♂️
Jesus being true, which all LDS believe, does not mean that He cannot call future prophets. The Bible doesn’t support this.
It’s cool if you want to believe whatever way you want to. That’s why there’s 50,000 different versions of Christianity out there - people can’t agree on what the Bible says, or even how many books the Bible should have in it.
I’m going to stick with Jesus Christ’s Church, led by apostles and prophets. If you’re wrong then I’ll look for you and we’ll have a chat on the other side. If your right then you can spend eternity playing a harp and floating on wings gloating about everyone that your God created and then righteously damned to hell because they were born at the wrong place or time in history to hear about your particular version of Jesus.
And you are reading the OT and NT through the lens of whichever of the 50,000 different Christian faiths you’ve adopted. Except you evidently think I approach Jesus through Joseph Smith. 🙄so you missed that lesson as a member.
The reverse of your second point is also true. If Joseph Smith is who he claims to be, then I guess you switched sides?
Good news is this - LDS dont automatically think you’re going to hell because you don’t believe exactly like we do.
So it’s a stalemate.
If you are right, then I’m good. I’ve accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and since I don’t need works, all I have to do is profess this and I’m good to go.
Of course, if your version of heaven is tied to accepting the creeds then I’ll likely go to hell but I’ll be in good company as none of the Biblical apostles accepted them before they died.
If you are wrong, then you’re going to be just fine as long as your heart is good and you’re willing to swallow your pride and accept you were wrong in this life. There are missionaries on the other side that will talk to you and someone will baptize you on this side after you die.
Why get all bent out of shape?
@mormons_speak@Ch_JesusChrist@twm_report Why does there have to be a purpose? What’s wrong with being a good steward of the resources you have while spreading the gospel and helping the poor and needy? Heavens forbid practicing what you preach. Make it 10 trillion. Why would you care?
Ok. Makes sense. You need an outlet and it’s better that you don’t vent off extra steam at home so the Internet gets your excess energy. I’m sure we will continue to disagree but the honest explanation makes your posts easier to understand (rare to get an honest explanation these days so props for that).
If you’ve left Mormonism, why haven’t you fully left it? Seems like if you truly decided it wasn’t for you that you’d walk away, happy with yourself and your choices instead of making up this persona and spending all your time and energy attacking it. You literally personify the exmo meme. 🙄
Attacking Christ center believers doesn’t make you the hero of the story.
@JSGleason136245@KeelingBobby Asking a question is a red herring? Sheesh. Take a walk outside and touch some grass. Not everything is an argument.
LDS routinely read “the Bible (OT and NT) and trust Jesus first and foremost” so I found that to be an interesting comment that he would make.
The flat‑earth analogy works better with LDS critics because the critics aren’t dealing with unanswered questions, they’re dealing with answers they refuse to accept.
Flat‑earthers deny evidence. LDS critics deny conclusions and then often move the goalposts.
That’s why the arguments get recycled from 1820s, not because the answers are weak, but because critics won’t let any answer settle the issue.
It’s hilarious to watch critics get schooled time and time again, only to have them make the same arguments the next day, as if they never had the first one. Or, watch them move goalposts or Gish Gallop or commit any number of logical fallacies (which the analogy above commits at least 3) as they post with certainty that they know more about LDS theology than the person they are talking with.
For the past 16 months I’ve taken an active stand at declaring my beliefs. In that time, I’ve read just about every anti-Mormon argument there is and have run across an amazing and diverse audience.
Most arguments are recycled, very few are unique, some even date from the 1820s.
I’ve found that the accounts that respond to my posts are mixed.
GROUP 1: My fellow Saints. A diverse mix of imperfect followers of Christ, some which correct me, some mostly ignore me, others (for some unknown reason) like my comments (who are you people?!)
GROUP 2: A significant portion are divided between professional antis (accounts whose sole focus is to denigrate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members) and drive by opportunists (including exmos, bots and the occasional atheist).
GROUP 3: Then there are the Christians, ardent in their own beliefs, but tolerate and welcoming of others. Kind people whose words and actions embody Christ’s New Testament teachings.
IRL I think groups two and three are switched. There are more people who are kind and less likely to damn anyone that believes differently than they do to hell. However, social media thrives on controversy and polite society doesn’t talk religion, so it seems different online.
GROUP 4: Of course, I can’t leave out the bigots. They are nasty (if you’re blocked by me it likely because of that). They traffic in hate disguised as love.
Group 5: There is an unknown number of fair minded people who haven’t heard much of the Church or who are genuinely curious. They rarely engage but I try to keep this group in mind when I post.
I’m sure there’s more groups but this is long enough.
@tscottme@TNTJohn1717 Maybe some cultures do… I don’t know. I do know people generally live messy lives and some can handle criticism and pushback better than others. If you can’t handle the heat…
You know you’re got a winning argument when you make a reply and then block anyone from responding. 🤣
@TNTJohn1717 poses a question in the form of a post the size of a book and then demands I “have to answer him”.
He posts a victory lap response and blocks replies.
Strong Karen energy.
The #LDS Church receives about $31 Billion per year in tithing & revenue from its tithing investments.
No one penny of its tithes go for humanitarian aid.
The @Ch_JesusChrist puts 2/3 of its income into stock portfolios, real estate investments, & hedge funds.
