I just discovered a whole subculture of Elon haters that aren't $tslaq.
It's like a giant group of people with massive victim complexes, and broken sarcasm detectors.
It's mind boggling.
@RomainHedouin@Devsthetix@TylerChess Its true for SOME people. Im blessed with great hair, skin and teeth. But id be a fat fuck if i didnt gym 5 days a week 🤣
@Antczak12 You want to call what China has as socialist and not capitalist, fine. It doesnt matter.
I would honestly like the west to adopt a more China like model with respect to its economy. Because I want to see less government. Not more. If that's socialist, then call me a socialist.
Advocates of socialism who point to China as a great success story should be commended.
China gov spending as a % of GDP is lower than any EU country and the US. They have lower taxes, and far less generous welfare with practically no unemployment benefits.
I like that system.
@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar Is this taking into account that China with a socialist market economy has lifted more than 850 million people out of extreme poverty since 1949? This accounts for more than 70% of the world’s total poverty reduction during the same period
@Antczak12 The labels are irrelevant. I care about the actual policies and their effects.
It is a fact that China spends less as a % of GDP on welfare than the EU. It is a fact that they have lower taxes. It is a fact that you can amass private property and wealth.
I like those things!
@Antczak12 I didnt forget anything.
Also, why are you ignoring the fact that China has gotten richer not through more communism, but more capitalism?
Chinas GDP per capita growth was negligible uptil 1979. It only took off after market reforms started.
@Antczak12 No Chinese would ever agree with your 77yr number. Chinese civilization has existed for thousands of years.
In any case, I'm not ignoring anything. If YOU want to ise China as an example of a good socialist state, what's wrong with me agreeing with you?
What more do you want?
@Antczak12@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar OK. If you think China is a model for socialism, I'm fine with that. Im OK with that system. Taxes are lower than "capitalist" economies and I can still accumulate wealth fine.
@Antczak12@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar Im from Hong Kong, which is perhaps the most capitalist city on earth. I do business in China and have done so for 2 decades. I live in Lithuania, which until 1991 was in the Soviet Union. I feel like I have a good grasp of the entire spectrum. China doesnt resemble socialist.
@Antczak12@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar Its literally a market economy with a socialist label. Yes the state has a role in this economy, but its a predominantly capitalist model. Not socialist.
Also, thank you for telling me about China. Being Chinese, I would never have known! 🙄
@SkinkkQ@bobbyknucksss@Antczak12@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar It should be noted that business demand need not be consumer demand. Never the less, both contribute to overal market demands.
It doesnt matter what kindof demand it is.
Demand is demand. There is unquestionable demand in AI and data centre buildout.
@Antczak12@tomorr53@Rakeshhkumaar Socialist market economy? Explain what that is.
China is now a fully capitalist economy, with some people having enormous amounts of wealth, while others live in poverty. You can own real estate, equities and capital. You can choose to not do a job. You can set your own prices.
@JohnRad15@BoucherBur45960@todaystropics Basically all properties I have purchased was in cash.
My first had a small mortgage, as I was only 23. I had the money to buy outright, but the mortgage allowed me to renovate.
I had one more with a loan cuz loans at the time were basically free. I paid it off when rates rose.
@JohnRad15@todaystropics@BoucherBur45960 Well land is expensive because of demand, not because of capitalism. But yes, people who cant afford land outright need to rent or borrow. Whats your point?
@JohnRad15@todaystropics@BoucherBur45960 You said housing is a commodity because of capitalism. And wages are low because housing is a commodity.
I disagree that housing is a commodity because of capitalism and there is no link between low wages and high housing costs.
@JohnRad15@BoucherBur45960@todaystropics I don't have a mortgage. I wasn't always a land owner. I used to rent, just like everyone else when they're starting out.
I'm from Hong Kong. I know very well what its like to live in a city where real estate is completely unaffordable.
What is your point?
@JohnRad15@todaystropics@BoucherBur45960 No I dont know what youre saying because if you use a word that means 1 thing, and you use it to mean another thing, in a way that nobody else uses it, it's not my fault I don't understand you.
What does it matter any way? This talk of link between wages and real estate is moot.
