@TeamYouTube It was an IPv6 issue on my router, somehow only screwed with the app traffic to YouTube and not web traffic. Once I disabled IPv6, that fixed the issue

@TeamYouTube the YouTube app on iOS and iPadOS has stopped working on wifi, works fine when switched to cellular, why is that? When can we expect a fix?

@TeamYouTube ya, I tried all of that. It happens on my iPhone, my wife's iPhone and my iPad - and only on wifi. the apps work perfectly on cellular. my appletv and hard-wired (ethernet) computer also stream YouTube perfectly, either through the browser or app.
