#NewProfilePic in honor of Kumar needing surgery. I dedicate this photo to remain as my profile photo until he throws his first professional pitch back from surgery. He will return, better and dirtier than before!
That foul ball down the middle from Langford tells me he is just off right now. Something’s off with his swing because that’s a pitch he should be punishing.
Opinion: that’s 80/20 bad luck/bad read. Rangers were shifted for him to pull leaving a normal SS pop up out in no man’s land. Langford read the ball deeper and may have lost it in the sun on the way to it and came up just short on the drive
Good effort by Burger but just hit too hard past him. Good 24 hour turnaround correction by Skip walking the Ranger Killer and trust a fresh arm to match well with the lefty. Today won’t be decision making, but rather execution if we lose the lead here
Back to back mental errors. Maybe even with sunglasses Duran misses that but you still gotta have them on in a day game. Then Smith looks like he took something off his throw on the turn. Almost curious if it’s a bad grip but optics weren’t great
Curvelo is such an interesting bullpen piece. He has ++ stuff. Personally, I feel his downfall is his tempo & lack of focus. It looks as if he is rushing and has the “go-go-go” mentality. I think if he slows down btwn each pitch & throws w/ intention, he will thrive consistently
@RangersFanCave His wRC+ since 4/1 is 143… probably the slow start can be attributed to his late spring start and had to get his feet under him. I think this is over analyzing and asking a question that doesn’t need to be asked
Skip isn’t perfect but choosing to get upset he pitched Garcia in the 6th is a losing battle. Garcia was supposed to be your setup/closer. He has struggled in that role. So put him in early against 2 LHB’s to try to get him back to form. He failed. Let the coach learn his bullpen
@RightOnRangers Literally 1 missed strike call in this inning… which may or may not have impacted the at bat as Pages probably doesn’t take pitch 5 down the middle. This falls squarely on Garcia. Couldn’t locate to save his life. They obviously see saving challenges for late in game as priority
This is the exact role Martin needs to be used in. Clean inning and low stress. Interested to see who Skip turns to today if the score holds.
Could try to squeeze a second inning but I’d prefer Winn, Beeks, Alexander especially with off day tomorrow
Calling an outing on March 4th embarrassing is the real embarrassment. Pitchers work through new pitches and different sequencing this early in spring. By the same logic we should fire Degrom into the sun or Evo and Gore after their first outings
Kumar Rocker doing little to nothing to inspire for an Opening Day roster spot. No disrespect to Team Brazil, but an outing like this is embarrassing. A home run allowed, only one strikeout, and needed nearly 40 pitches to get through two innings.
Win now and win later move. Not sure they make this move if they aren’t confident they can get an extension done.
Control thru:
Leiter - 2030
Rocker - 2031
Evo - 2027
Degrom - 2028
Reset the cap tax this year and we have a solid 3-4 year controllable rotation
"For the Rangers this is a move that's somewhat surprising because it's a win-now move."
@Ken_Rosenthal didn't anticipate this deal but likes the move for Texas.
