“Children with… open fractures, partial amputations, open chest wounds, horrendous lacerations… and burns. And that was every day.” Dr Deborah Harrington recently spent 2 weeks in a Gaza hospital. “I feel ashamed and shocked that we’re doing this to fellow humans,” she told me.

"Please set the standards for the people you want in your life. It’s not selfish. It’s not rude. It’s imperative. You are allowed to determine who gets access to you. You are allowed to want people in your life who make you feel light and supported.” ~Jamie Varon
Adult tantrums are the result of an inability to self regulate. They can look like: screaming, name calling, stomping off, attacking people who disagree, or intimidation.
The foundation of an emotionally healthy person is a home where: adults are safe and predictable, all emotions are valid, self expression is encouraged, and personal accountability is modeled.
Healthy relationships don't just happen. They take work, vulnerability, and a willingness to get past our own ego. Many people have been sold a false, romanticized version of love that we meet the "right" person and everything falls into place.
Growing up with Emotionally Immature Parents (EIP) can create a situation where we don't feel safe in adult relationships.
Or we experience what's labeled as social anxiety.
HERE'S WHY (🧵):
“If you don’t make use of your own power to change your brain for the better, other forces will shape your brain for you, including pressures at work and home, technology and media, pushy people and the lingering effects of painful past experiences.” ~ @drrhanson#mindfulness
