JUST IN: US inflation jumped to 4.2% (y/y) in May —>the highest in 3 years and up from 2.4% in February before the war in Iran.

Higher gas and energy prices drove 60% of the gain. Shelter and food (especially restaurants) also contributed. The monthly increase was 0.5%.

Youtube troller Barbell is slowly turning from a troll into a sympathy artist.

Production houses sending legal notices is 100% legal. It is their right. If Extreme hatred in the name of Freedom of Speech is YOUR constitutional right, so are Copyright Protection and Intellectual Property rights. It is producers' legal right.

Before anyone asks: Yes, we at Telugu360 publish negative reviews too. We receive copyright notices and legal threats regularly. We deal with them professionally, challenge them when necessary, and move on.

What we don't do is turn every notice into a victimhood campaign and cry for sympathy, likes, and subscriptions.

Crying about every strike, making videos claiming victimhood, and urging people to " like and subscribe " because a notice arrived is not a defense of free speech. 🎭

We are all for press freedom, freedom of expression, and an individual’s right to criticize.

Seeing some tweets about how Iran has imposed a new deterrence equation on Israel and the region. That seems like a whole lot of motivated reasoning.

First, let's be clear about how much of a reversal this represents for Iran's strategic doctrine: instead of its Arab proxies protecting Iran from attack, Iran is now trying to bail them out—and inviting attacks on its own territory as a result.

Second, in four past rounds of fighting (going back to April 2024), Iran was unable to deter Israel because its missile barrages failed to cause strategic damage. It could not impose costs significant enough to change Israeli behavior.

Indeed, as @NicoleGrajewski and others have written, those attacks arguably invited further conflict rather than deterred it. The salvos overnight do not seem any different. Iran's act of "deterrence" wound up causing more damage to Iran than to the country it sought to deter.

The tools that have been more successful over the past few months—at compellence, rather than deterrence—have been the ones aimed at Gulf states and global energy markets. But to use those tools now (or in the future) risks collapsing the entire ceasefire.

The "equation" here relies on Donald Trump to restrain Israel. It doesn't seem viable at all in the long term, unless Iran is prepared to risk endless escalatory cycles that would ultimately be very damaging for Iran itself.

Possible Trump played several journalists tonight and was always OK with an Israeli retaliation? Yes, but… the manipulation game last summer before Rising Lion was elaborate and premeditated. And not done by people ringing up Trump randomly for comment. Iran hit Israel today with a missile attack, which no one saw coming. Wait for the reporting on this but another explanation is Netanyahu spent an hour or so on the phone telling him Israel couldn’t not respond and Trump acquiesced, so long as the retaliation was limited.
