We spent months pulling that story apart, and almost none of it holds up.

She never left Alabama. For the next decade she did classified work for the Department of Defense at Redstone Arsenal, unable to even tell her own son what she was working on, while the Pentagon quietly kept funding her and publicly treated the research as a dead end. She was barred from returning to China for her own mother's funeral. In 2014 she was struck by a car on campus, suffered permanent brain damage, and never spoke publicly again.

And she was never working alone. We traced the physicists, mathematicians, and engineers who built the theoretical framework underneath her experiments, men whose peer-reviewed papers, patents, and DIA-cited research quietly continued for over a decade after her funding officially "ended." Almost every one of them goes dark in the same year: 2014. One is still a professor today, and his own CV has scrubbed every mention of the work, his collaborator, and the patents they filed together.

A journalist who kept digging on this in 2023 got a phone call telling him to stop.

At least six credentialed scientists spent over a decade quietly working the same problem: how to generate a gravitational field on demand. Publicly ridiculed, privately funded, and then almost all of them silenced, retired, or vanished from the record in the same twelve-month window. What they actually built, and who has it now, has never been answered.
