Personally I don’t think this is severe enough. The entire USMNT should decline to play, the goal posts should be re-installed, and Belgium should have to face the Seattle Seahawks.
Balogun should decline to play; I think that's the best decision at this point. I'd be pleasantly surprised if that's what comes to pass, but hope springs eternal. Infantino must be removed &/or participating nations should reject FIFA's authority & create a new world soccer governing body. FIFA begs to be neutralized once and for all; it's unreformable.
@BTWSEA Increasing his TOI would have meant, almost exclusively, putting him on the PK and on D-Zone faceoffs. Letting him get caved in during those situations wouldn’t have developed him any faster.
@pgh877@dinatalecaleb It’s no different than any big city in that respect, and better than half the other cities with an NHL team. Not saying it doesn’t have issues, but these takes are hyperbole through and through. That’s where the narrative is.
@jtbourne Most disappointing city I’ve been to. Was really looking forward to it. I found it to be a total dump. Surrounding areas are beautiful but the city itself has major problems. Not that my opinion is relevant. But I do know a number of players I’ve talked with feel the same way.
@dinatalecaleb I’m biased because I live here and have experienced the area in its totality, but someone who visited downtown once and repeats the tried and true Fox News narratives is sharing the One True Opinion on Seattle. Got it.
@AlisonL Florida: We’re leveraging our success to trade for star players!
Seattle: We’re trading a ton of assets to be more competitive!
Edmonton: We’re engaging in psychological warfare with our own players!
@Hockeymom8215@America_First95@NHLtoSeattle Unless that potential is realized.
Also the stats on late first rounders aren’t eye popping (everyone remember Eduard Sale?). Had they offered pick #7, THAT would have been an overpayment.
The concern trolling over Abbey Murphy’s PIM is really something.
Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in hockey, if you have a chance to take a player who can do that at a generational pace, then that is worth seeing a little more of your PK unit.
Seattle’s No. 2 overall pick fits the Torrent’s push toward a faster, more relentless identity while also bringing off-ice questions the organization will have to navigate.

I enjoy watching hockey, but this sport will never gain the mainstream popularity it so desperately desires when people watching on TV cant see/tell when the teams score.
RIP big man.
I’ll always remember the NCAA tournament when the announcers realized on air that he had more blocks than missed shots for an entire season.
@NHLtoSeattle We need one of those Canadian 6-rink complexes that are basically just giant concrete slabs with 20 locker rooms and barely enough space to fit your bag through the hallways
