NEW: 🇬🇧 A temporary restricted airspace area has now been established around Whelford, Gloucestershire, following today’s major incident near RAF Fairford.

A new NOTAM, J3453/26, confirms that the restricted area became active at 13:40 UTC today, September 27, and is currently scheduled to remain in place until 11:00 UTC on October 5.

The restricted area covers a 4 nautical mile radius around coordinates 51°41'20"N 001°45'27"W, near Whelford.

Importantly, the restriction applies to all aircraft, including small balloons, kites, UAS/drones and parachutes, including parascending parachutes and paramotors.

Pilots are prohibited from flying within the designated area without permission from the emergency controlling authority, which the NOTAM identifies as the Gloucestershire Police Drone Team.

Nearby air-traffic-control units have also been requested to advise aircraft on their frequencies about the contents of the NOTAM.

The restriction has been introduced under Article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016.

This means authorities have now formally created a sizeable temporary no-fly/restricted zone around the area of the ongoing operation. It will remain in place for more than a week unless it is cancelled or amended earlier.

@InsiderGeo But how is it possible that they aren't closing the airspace?

[RaraferCardovic @RaraferCardovic]

Al-Jazari (1150–1220)

Some regard him as the father of robotics. In 1206, while serving as chief engineer at the court of Diyarbakir (in what is now southeastern Turkey), Al-Jazari wrote The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices.

In that treatise he described a boat he had built to entertain guests at festivities: it glided across the palace pond carrying automata that played a flute, a harp, and two drums.

The mechanical drummers, for instance, concealed rotating cylinders fitted with movable pegs. With each revolution the pegs activated levers that struck the drums. By changing the number and arrangement of the pegs, different rhythms could be produced. Thanks to this system, the automata could even be programmed.

Parts of the state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jet go missing during transport to the US via Hong Kong.

Vital components of the US fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet may have fallen into Chinese hands, according to a report by *Politico*. The publication states that aircraft parts were being shipped from Australia to the US for repairs, but the cargo was diverted to Hong Kong. Subsequently, all trace of the shipment was lost. It remains unclear why the route was changed or where the components are currently located.

The incident has sparked significant concern in the US, and a congressional investigation has already been launched. Manufacturer Lockheed Martin declined to comment, citing security reasons, though the company emphasized that it adheres to all Pentagon regulations regarding the transport of such parts.

As *Politico* notes, if the components were to fall into the possession of a potential adversary, they could be analyzed and replicated through reverse engineering, potentially revealing key design features of the F-35.

As *Der Spiegel* reports, this news comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Germany. On the same day, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius took delivery of the first F-35 fighter jet for the Bundeswehr. Germany plans to acquire up to 35 of these aircraft to replace its aging Tornado fleet. Parts of the state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jet go missing during transport to the US via Hong Kong

What's troubling about the Ratcliffe visit to Moscow is the growing body of evidence that Russia is actively probing Romania's air defenses with multiple deep penetrations in the last 10 days. You can see it in the estimated flight paths. Privately, Polish officials believe the Kh-101 overflight was intentional. We have good sources on that info that we trust.

MEROPS is performing poorly and Romania is struggling to track Russian drones. Ministry of Defense didn't mention MEROPS specifically, but noted that Russian drone tech has leapfrogged NATO's detection and tracking tech. Romania has had issues deploying MEROPS so operator error shouldn't be ruled out.

If only someone knew how to solve this problem!

The other thing that is concerning is Russia's brazen attacks on the Romanian and Moldovan border checkpoints. It's a mass casualty event waiting to happen.

You also have the drone incident at Leipzig, which was much more serious than first reports. It appears it was a complex operation that only failed because the detonator on one of the drones disconnected on impact. Germany announced they would be revealing the "who." Leipzig isn't just a spot where an An-124 was parked. It is a major NATO logistics hub and DHL's largest terminal in the world. There were 4 An-124s there, and they are part of NATO's heavy transport capabilities.

Then you have the very unusual intense NATO activity over the Baltics, including EW and SIGNINT. They were highly visible transponder on exercises. NATO wanted everyone to know, and Russia was unusually quiet.

Finally, all the active tunneling from Belarus into Eastern Europe, including Poland's fortified border. This isn't getting a lot of coverage. We have the confirmed incidents on our map. Sure, they're migrants getting Russian and Belarusian assistance, but if they can tunnel undetected, Russia troops can do more.

I don't think this has anything to do with Iran, outside of stop assisting Iran, we know you are, our troops have been killed-wounded, here's the proof. That would be a face-to-face meeting.

Other Iran talks feels more like the domain of Witkoff-Kushner.

Talks for a high level prisoner exchange between East and West seems unlikely, also. That would likely be more covert, and typically, there is some chatter around impending prisoner exchanges.

It also seems unlikely there was a significant incident between warships or aircraft that has gone unreported. The Pentagon leaks like a sieve and there are negative elements in the halls of the Pentagon eager to "prove" NATO is going to start WW3.

One other possibility is the crisis at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. This isn't getting enough coverage. I wrote in depth about possible scenarios and how difficult it would be to fake an accident. However, economic sabotage with minor radiation leaks is a possible scenario.

If Russia collapses Ukraine's power grid, you have 5 nuclear power sites in crisis. Zaporizhzhia and Chornobyl can't operate in island mode. Zaporizhzhia's diesel fuel consumption rate will skyrocket in the winter, due to the need to run portable boilers for hot water and steam.

I don't believe the US is going to throw Ukraine under the bus more than they already have. Support for Ukraine is still very popular (bots don't vote) as shown in the Senate. That wouldn't require a plane trip and Ratcliffe wouldn't be the axe man.

One thing is certain.

The US wanted the world to know Ratcliffe was visiting.

Dennis Ritchie created C in the early 1970s without Google, Stack Overflow, GitHub, or any AI ( Claude, Cursor, Codex) assistant.

- No VC funding.
- No viral launch.
- No TED talk.
- Just two engineers at Bell Labs. A terminal. And a problem to solve.

He built a language that fit in kilobytes.

50 years later, it runs everything.

Linux kernel. Windows. macOS.

Every iPhone. Every Android.

NASA’s deep space probes.

The International Space Station.

> Python borrowed from it.
> Java borrowed from it.
> JavaScript borrowed from it.

If you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow.

He died in 2011.
The same week as Steve Jobs.
Jobs got the front pages.
Ritchie got silence.

This Legend deserves to be celebrated.

‼️ BREAKING: Journalists hid an Airtag in a rare book shipment and confirmed Amazon to be one of the buyers behind the bulk orders destroying rare-books to feed their AI.

They tracked it to Amazon's LAS8 warehouse in Las Vegas, home to VGT3 (see logo below), a scanning operation feeding Amazon's AI training data, where workers say they cut the bindings off books to scan them faster.

Amazon won't say why the books are destroyed.

Two economists mathematically proved that AI will destroy the economy.

Researchers from Wharton and Boston University published a terryfiying paper called "The AI Layoff Trap."

They mapped out the economic end-game of the AI transition, and it exposes a fatal flaw in competitive capitalism.

When a company replaces a worker with AI, it captures 100% of the wage savings.

But that displaced worker is also a consumer. When they lose their job, they stop buying things.

The company gets all the savings, but the loss of consumer demand is spread across the entire economy.

If there are 20 competitors in a market, a CEO only absorbs 1/20th of the economic damage their layoffs just created.

So every single rational CEO has a mathematical incentive to automate as fast as possible.

They can literally see the cliff approaching, and they still step on the gas.

It triggers an unavoidable Prisoner’s Dilemma. If you don't automate, your competitors will, and they will crush you on price.

It doesn't just hurt workers. It destroys the businesses, too.

The economy gets trapped in an automation arms race. Companies fire their workforce to stay competitive, until the entire consumer base is completely hollowed out.

At the limit, the paper concludes: “Firms automate their way to boundless productivity and zero demand.”

And the scariest part?

The researchers mathematically tested every popular fix.

Universal Basic Income? Fails. It raises the living standard but doesn't change the corporate incentive to cut jobs. Retraining? Fails. Worker equity? Fails.

The paper proves that more competition actually makes the collapse happen faster. And "better" AI makes the damage worse.

The only thing that mathematically stops the collapse is a targeted automation tax, forcing companies to pay for the purchasing power they destroy before they automate the job.

IPv8 has been proposed...

and the crazy part is how simple it is for being so powerful.

- 8 octets instead of 4
- fully compatible with IPv4, no dual stacking.
- Can be rolled out as a software patch, no hardware replacement
- 1 device - the Zone Server - acts as DHCP, DNS, NAT (they call it XLATE8), ACL (east and west, north and south), NTP, and OAUTH
- BGP routers reduced to ~175,000 prefixes vs today's 900,000+
- A new metric for routing protocols called Cost Factor derived from RTT, loss, congestion state, stability, capacity, policy, and geography

Here is a blog that breaks down how it works (diagrams included): https://t.co/FKUgRQBUeJ
