- Traded A.J. Brown to the Patriots
There is this weird notion that the Eagles HAVE TO trade A.J. Brown.
That the Patriots have some kind of leverage and Howie Roseman and the Eagles are backed into a corner.
My doods.
A.J. Brown is under contract through 2029 (โผ๏ธ)
The Eagles have plenty of cap space. They have ZERO incentive to move him unless they find fair compensation.
A.J. Brown requested to be traded. To be frank: who gives a shit what A.J. Brown requested?
Sure, Howie Roseman and the Eagles are trying to accommodate the request and find a fit. But at the end of the day, this is a business. They can't just trade him for less than what he's worth because he wants to go play for a coach that he forgets he used to absolutely hate.
If the Patriots don't want to give up a 1st AND THEN SOME for AJB, so be it. Howie can wait.
If AJB doesn't want to show up to training camp and wants to forfeit otherwise guaranteed money, have fun. We can wait.
Even with the June 1 changes, the Eagles are still taking large cap hits by moving Brown. They aren't going to trade him just to trade him. The compensation has to be worth it.
And if the Patriots really want to play any last-minute games, good luck trying to scrape and claw your way into the playoffs with Romeo Doubs as your WR1 in a year when you won't have the easiest schedule in NFL history.
