Today, two years has passed since the #COVID19DK lockdown begun in Denmark on March 11st 2020.
Here is an animation of PCR-confirmed cases on municipality level to mark the occasion

COMMENTARY: Misleading BMJ Public Health paper on #COVID19 excess mortality needs to be retracted (by Lone Simonsen, Rasmus Kristoffer Pedersen)
The paper has already led to much debate and confusion and has been used as fodder for anti-vaccine advocates

@anders_hviid @KT_Baek@SSI_dk@PandemiXCtr Oh, I didn't realize the DAR data was showing ~50% currently.
My own interpretation is that the truth is somewhere in between: DAR undercounts and the correction-method is an upper bound.
But in the end it comes down to the definition of "COVID-related" and "incidental"
@KT_Baek @anders_hviid @SSI_dk@PandemiXCtr I agree with Anders' point by the way: Claims that most deaths right now should be incidental is not correct.
Even at the highest, the proportion of incidental deaths were far away from 90%, as seen on the figures Anders show
@KT_Baek @anders_hviid @SSI_dk@PandemiXCtr Yeah, the method for model-correction shown here is no longer included in the reports.
The purpose was, in some sense, to estimate the incidental deaths by getting an upper bound for the non-incidental deaths.
This correction is less relevant at this point in time.
"With" or "Due to"?
In our new joint publication with @SSI_dk in @Eurosurveillanc we investigate the rise in coincidental COVID-19 deaths in early 2022 due to the easing of restrictions in the well-vaccinated Danish population.

Last week I had the pleasure of returning to the beautiful city of Heidelberg for #ecmtb2022 and give a presentation on some current on-going work. An amazing week with impressive talks, great posters and nice people! 😁
Smallpox, plague, malaria, childhood infections and more! We’re exchanging ideas and knowledge with our Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish colleagues on the @NordForsk project ‘Nordemics: Pathogens, Pandemics and the Development of Nordic Societies’. (Imagine a Finnish flag too🇫🇮)!
