THE EARS ARE ACTIVE WHILE SLEEPING
The ears are active during sleep.
So We sealed their ears [with sleep] in the cave for a number of years.
Allah Almighty say in the Glorious Quran (18:9-12):

Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." –Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not) In other words:
So We sealed their ears [with sleep] in the cave for a number of years.– Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.
It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.
The original Arabic of the phrase "We sealed their ears" in the Qur'an is the verb daraba.
This bears the metaphorical meaning of "We have made them sleep." Used in reference to the ears, daraba means "preventing the ears from hearing." The fact that only the sense of hearing is mentioned here is very significant.
According to recent scientific discoveries, the ear is the only sensory organ active while a person is sleeping. This is why we need an alarm clock to wake up.
The wisdom of the phrase "We sealed their ears" is, in all probability, that Allah closed the hearing of the young people in question, for which reason they remained asleep for many years.

While sharing a meal, serving one another is seen as a sign of respect and care.

A common way of greeting someone in Chinese is 'have you eaten yet' 吃了吗?

吃了吗 (chīle ma) is basically the equivalent of “how are you?” in English.

If someone asks you 吃了吗 (chīle ma) they’re not inviting you to dinner. They also don’t expect you to go into any detail about your recent meal. Similar to getting into an elevator seeing someone you know and asking “how are you?” and receiving a lengthy description of their work life, social life and medical problems.

Not only in China but people all over Asia greet each other similar way. Food plays an important role in Chinese culture and during the meal, serving one another is seen as a sign of respect and care.

Conversation is always plentiful about food.

While working on set we would have lunchboxes for lunch and dinner. Every day someone would offer me their homemade version of chili sauce with a discussion of how they made it. Like an Indian masala there would be different blends of spices in each recipe.

I have worked on many film sets all over China, from Yantai, Qingdao, Nanjing, Chengzhou, Hangzhou, Changchun, Beijing, Shanghai, the list goes on. The routine was the same in each location.

No matter where I would land I was immediately part of that film world family.

It was usually the people who worked on crew who would offer me a seat, offer to get my lunchbox, offer their homemade special chili sauce.

As a sign of respect everyone would call me ‘lao shi’ 老师 or ‘teacher’ in English. At first I was confused by being called teacher, then someone explained that the word has become a generalized way to address someone they respect.

An actor can call another actor as ‘laoshi’ and it conveys the respect toward the other.

To show you just how many people can be on set at one time, actors, crew, extras I've attached a photo from ‘Diplomatic Situation’ 外交风云, a TV drama series aired on CCTV1.

I soon started travelling with my own little jar of sauce, this one is my favorite - Lao Gan Ma 老干妈 Chili Sauce.
