O Allah, I have come to You with nothing to offer as an excuse except my weakness, and nothing by which to draw near to You except my desperate need for You.

My Lord…

Whenever I resolve to become steadfast, my own soul holds me back.
Whenever I intend to repent, my desires pull me away.
Whenever I raise my hands to You, I remember the multitude of my sins, and I feel ashamed.

But how can I despair when You have said in Your Book:

“Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah.” (Qur’an 39:53)

My God…

If my deeds are not worthy of Paradise, then You are worthy of admitting me into it through Your mercy.
And if my sins are many, Your forgiveness is greater still.

My Lord, do not deal with me according to Your justice; rather, deal with me according to Your grace.
Do not take me to account for what I have done, but look instead at my heart as it knocks upon Your door in sincere repentance.

O Allah, I fear dying before I have truly repented.
I fear standing before You with pages filled with sins.

So grant me repentance before death, mercy at the moment of death, and forgiveness after death.

My God…

If You turn away those who ask, then I have no one to blame but myself.
But if You accept those who repent, then I hope to be among them.

Do not deprive me of the sweetness of nearness to You, the coolness of Your forgiveness, or the light of Your guidance.

O Allah, between You and me are sins that only Your generosity can erase.
Within my heart is a hardness that only Your remembrance can soften.
Within my soul is a weakness that only Your guidance and support can strengthen.

So take me by the hand and lead me to You.
Do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.
Grant me a good ending, and make the last of my days the most beloved to You.

Indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
