@duolingo Hey, I'm learning Dutch and have been really enjoying it until today when I started unit 12 on section 1 and you threw 30 brand new adjectives at me over 6 lessons. It felt massively overwhelming, I've not consolidated learning any of them and I feel lost. Slow it down!

2 years ago, @BobbyVylan was the first gig I went to after covid times; tonight, 5 weeks and 2 days after bottom surgery, they're also my first band with a vulva 😂 couldn't risk being in the pit sadly, needed a seat on the balc, but they are the best band going today ❤️

Half a lifetime ago, me and a bunch of friends tried to be wrestlers, I was garbage. However, some of that group went on to make @GrandPro, and continue to wrestle and run shows for another half a lifetime, and I couldn't be prouder of them. Great 20th anniversary show today.

@firehorsemia @JeanLucPicorgi @aliterative It depends on what one's aim is. I agree that being a generalist can be a useful skill to tie things together that may otherwise be missed. But that requires specialists to continue to expand the understanding of their individual fields too, for the generalist to work with.

@firehorsemia @JeanLucPicorgi @aliterative This was entirely because our knowledge was much less specialised, and so expanding the field of knowledge in any single area took much less knowledge of that single area than it does today. So much to learn in a single field now makes specialism in multiple impossible.
