In January 2020, I reported that a Chinese student at a US university had been jailed for 6 months in China for tweets he had posted while in the US.

It was the first example I had seen of a Chinese person jailed for tweets posted abroad.

But Chinese diplomats have said these kind of things.

They been threatening several journalists, scientists, officials and civilians around the world with "repercussions & consequences"

Most of which sound like death threats.

They came from accros the Mainland border and border police stopped several more trying to enter HK the day after.

They were hired thugs.
