525,000 a year
10,000 a week
1,400 a day.
These are the number of men that die by suicide.
Happy Men's Mental Health Month.
To every man reading this: you are not a burden, and you do not have to carry the weight of the world alone. Speaking up is real strength.
Please read and digest this post if you are looking for a job.
Applied to ExxonMobil 3 times, I didn't get past the application stage twice. It was my 3rd attempt that I got the job. Please apply for a job just one more time and even if it doesn't come, apply again.
I know you have sent your CV to many places, you have sent over 200 CVs still no response, I say to you, apply one more time.
Am not saying it has to be Exxonmobil (EM) or any other Oil and Gas company. It can be any other other company. The website to apply for jobs in EM is https://t.co/XqZ2Ofz9Sc & for Shell, it is https://t.co/dWIIWRaquW
You need a job because bills must be paid. You need a job because there is Dignity in Labour. You need a job because my money and our money are 2 different things.
Working for an Oil and Gas company was my Goal. While I was in UNIUYO, I told my friends that I would work for an International Oil Company (IOC).
People used to laugh and say, you think it is easy to get an oil company job, told them I would get it and I did.
Mind you, I didn't study a science course in the University. I was a science student in FGGC Ikot Obio Itong/Ikot Abasi, passed Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry but hated Physics & didn't excel at it. Guess why? My Physics Teacher, Mr. Enema was born again and always talked about God. It annoyed me so much that the moment he walked into class, I walked out.
Long story short, I dumped science & studied Economics in UNIUYO. People told me I needed to study a science course to get an Oil company job.
My eldest brother, Barrister Bassey Dan-Abia Jnr AKA Badanz, my paddy for life said to me, Mfon, how do you think you are going to get an Oil company job? He said, Go get your Masters. Didn't have masters, told myself, there are people who don't have masters but work in oil companies. Get your Masters if you can and want to do so. It's a plus.
Companies invited me to write tests but didn't go past the test stage.
Travelled to Lagos to write Ernst & Young , KPMG and Augusto & Co tests.
When I did KPMG test, we were told that they would get back to us the next day. Guess what? I got a response same day that I was not successful. I didn't know whether to cry or laugh, told my twin sister (a Christian to the core) the outcome and she said, Mfon, your job is not in Lagos. She was living and working in Lagos at that time. Guess what? She was right. My job was not Lagos, It was in Akwa Ibom State where I worked and fought for my people.
Travelled back to PH, didn't give up and kept applying. My Dad, My No 1 Cheerleader kept paying for flights to go write those tests. Never for once did he complain that he was spending money and I wasn't getting any job.
Was constantly buying Tuesday and Thursday Guardian Newspapers to search for jobs till my Dad asked me to stop and offered to buy them for me.
Got back to PH and my elder sister said, Mfon, you are too intelligent, why are you not passing all these tests? She was working in Shell at that time so I knew anything I said won't make sense to her so I kept quiet.
She gave me a GMAT book to practice and said, go practice the questions and I did.
It's my story and I share it to encourage at least one person out there not to give up applying for jobs.
All you need is one Yes and I pray you get that one Yes that will change your life forever.
I got a Yes and it ExxonMobil. ExxonMobil changed my life forever!
Thank you for reading, now go apply for that job.
Most people are getting ghosted because they send the exact same CV to 50 different job descriptions. Recruiters see right through it in seconds.
We completely rebuilt Dr CV to fix this. It is no longer just a resume reviewer.
It handles the entire process for you:
1. You upload your CV and it tells you exactly what is wrong.
2. It fixes and refines your bullet points automatically.
3. It shows you live jobs that actually match your experience.
4. It rewrites and tailors your resume for those specific jobs so your chances of landing an interview skyrocket.
@victusurama@nla_agba The issue with kinetic approaches especially when they involve hostage situations is they require specialization to execute, but the NAF is stretched thin fighting on multiple fronts. They can hire mercs sha or invite external forces to rescue these people.
@bodybyzedd@Scot_david80 Nahhhh, he’s not talking about it from a Christian pov, rather a moral pov. There’s a certain rot and decadence that’s about these days.
