Lil Uzi Vert Sued For $110 Million In Copyright Infringement Lawsuit. New York Artist Rief Rawyal Alleges Uzi's Hit Record "Just Wanna Rock" Copies His Song "Pain And Pleasure"
@Rawyal v. @liluzivert / @AtlanticRecords / @Generationnow__ / @rocnation / @warnermusic:
Copyright Infringement Filed On October 17 w/ Western District of New York (@WDNYnews)
In the 26-page complaint, Rawyal, real name Sharrief Bouchet, claims Lil Uzi Vert’s 2023 hit, “Just Wanna Rock,” substantially copied Rawyal’s 2023 song, “Pain and Pleasure,” and generated major commercial gains at his expense, supported by an expert report alleging extensive musical overlap.
Rawyal has no legal representation as of November 10. Lil Uzi Vert, Roc Nation, Warner Music, Atlantic Records, nor Generation Now have responded to the complaint as of November 10.
Rawyal seeks more than $110 million for lost licensing, market dilution, missed endorsements, and continued commercial use of the contested hook.
A forensic musicology report in the complaint as “Exhibit C” claims 93 to 97 percent derivation and cites shared themes, tempos, Jersey Club patterns, and matching hook structures.
Rawyal claims major labels and affiliates monetized the disputed work across major platforms and events while Meta suppressed his original track.
Rawyal argues the defendants [Lil Uzi Vert] had access through industry ties, prior submissions to Atlantic Records, and engagement from major figures before Uzi’s release.
The complaint requests infringement findings, statutory damages, injunctions, retroactive publishing credit, and full litigation costs.
“Just Wanna Rock” reached No. 1 on the @billboardcharts (Rap) in February 2023. It achieved 4x Platinum status with the @RIAA.
It is featured on his 2023 Pink Tape LP.
Rawyal’s “Pain and Pleasure” has 7.8k views on @Vevo and 32k streams on @Spotify.

Back in the day, being called a biter was the biggest insult in hip-hop. You couldn’t sound like nobody else. You had to be you, your own cadence, your own slang, your own story.
Now everybody wanna “borrow” a flow or recycle an aesthetic. Nah. There’s a difference between inspired and imitating.
The culture was built on originality. That’s what separated legends from copies.
Don’t bite. Create.
