@ThebfgGazza As the two “Coppers” left the pub via the back door their radio would start transmitting using the NATO alphabet. It was always a variety of “swear” words. Tango,Whisky, Alpha, Tango etc…

@fasc1nate Two things here.
1. He didn’t kill anyone let alone a guard in Alcatraz
2. The only place he kept birds was in Leavenworth Penitentiary.
It was rumoured that during the “riot” in 1946 I think the prisoners involved tried to kill him but that may just be an urban myth.
