As part of their two-day Junior Fine Arts festival students had the opportunity to work with artist Emily Grant from @istatheatre and participate in ensemble work highlighting borders, boundaries and community. 🎭 @DaaMiddle#memorablemoments#middleschool#theatre
I love the artwork created by our students that is shared around the halls in MS. This one is titled: “Art is Among us in the Middle School.” #fineartsdepartmentforthewin@DaaMiddle
A very rare endorsement by a leader in mathematical mindset @joboaler. A math curriculum for the middle years that sparks curiosity and allows for multiple answers and ways to look at a real world problem. Take a look at @MidSchoolMath for more info.
I don't usually do this but am giving my support to this curriculum as it is: written by teachers, engages students actively, and highlights important mathematics & mindset messages: https://t.co/PGp5vyNlL0
I love having lunch duty in different classrooms during Ramadan. Students share all about their day and what they’re learning. Here, Grade 7’s explained the challenges of building scale models. @gems_daa@DaaMiddle
“We don’t teach a curriculum, we teach humans.”
I loved listening to 3 leaders in education share their thoughts this morning. Thanks @kjinquiry, @mchurch_thinks , and @RonRitchhart for a great start to the day!

I created a graph crossing 2 diff dispositions & track Ss each day. There is no negative quadrant, all equally valued. Student thinking, reflections, trends, & conversations are what is important - not assessment. This crosses perseverance across individual/group collaboration.
Inquiry and thinking are always connected. I can’t wait for this conversation next weekend between @kjinquiry, @mchurch_thinks, and @RonRitchhart. Teachers, click on the link to register!
A cause close to my heart. #AutismAwarenessMonth
This video was made by a brave parent who shared his story. Listening to other people’s stories make us more compassionate, caring, understanding, and all round better people.
This story was this for me today xx
MESAC Senior Fine Arts 2021. Theatre section included 6 International schools, 51 students, 6 performing artists workshops - all spanning across 8 countries. This is a snippet of DAA students’ exploration of devising in the style of @ThePaperBirds. @gems_daa
MESAC Senior Fine Arts Festival Day 1 Complete. @HighSchoolDAA Students learned a lot at their workshops in Mime, Physical theatre, Laban, Comedy and Devising. Can’t wait to see what they apply and create tomorrow!
Collaboration and student agency is as important today as it ever has been.
@DaaMiddle Drama students hybrid learning discussions were on point today. Voice and agency encourages engagement and creativity.
