@mbg555@_SamStClair_@TristanSnell They haven’t ‘lost’ anything until they crystallise that loss by selling assets. Until they do all they have is an uncrystallised loss that can be reversed by doing nothing
@gen_enhazed I’ll take your word for the Euro people in the EU they are a weird bunch, but in Britain the view is completely different outside of the boomer generation no one will go to fight for Kiev while we can’t even defend Kent
@SMO_VZ @OCanonist Russia would want ivano frankovsk and Ternopil oblasts to allow a land bridge to Hungary and the rest of the Balkans. This scenario is <1% chance of happening realistically
@gen_enhazed @AndrisIoannis Russia has been doing this for 3 years in Ukraine and it has not made a massive difference to the battlefield situation. It’s not a positive but not a big negative. Saying every piece of Russian infrastructure is going to be ‘wiped out’ is dumb and just hyper dooming
@gen_enhazed The initial failed assault on Vugledar back in 2023 had some creative flair militarily to its initial attack. Russian military gained a solid foothold but then messed up the rotations and reinforcements and ended up as an infamous debacle
The world is plunging into a LARP Putinist phase. Every other leader tries to appear as a strongman. Every frozen conflict is being re-activated. All major powers are obsessed with hypersonic weapons and trying to replicate them. No one even pretends to care about 'democracy' anymore - which used to be the dominant religion of the West. Just this month, Romania has outright refused to recognize the results, Moldavian elections were openly rigged, Georgian president doesn't want to leave the presidential palace after losing elections - and all these violations are supported by the EU.
No one cares about the UN or the 'internationally-recognized' borders either. Countries with functioning armies are eager to start their own little SMOs and fund proxy forces fighting on their behalf abroad. Israel, Turkey and US invaded Syria and refused to elaborate. Trump now 'jokingly' wants to annex Canada. Allegations of 'foreign interference' or 'tiktok misinformation' are now perfectly reasonable grounds for political action and abuse of power. Social media apps are being blocked and media outlets are getting banned on demand. Former Jihadis are becoming DEAR BROTHERS in a matter of months. Russia, as always, has paved the way for everyone else. We're all living in Late Putinism now.
@Zaporozhyan The trouble is without October 7th the Palestinian cause would have been lost too with Saudi (Sunni) Israel alliance, so no matter if it happened or not Israel would be in the same position it is now geopolitically. Iran should have developed nukes early and given one to Hezbolah
@DrewPavlou By not joining the EU Georgia is fighting for their freedom. How can you claim to be fighting for feeedom while the alternative is giving up your sovereignty to the politburo in Brussels. Idiot
@vatnik_destruct Idiotic comparison. The west in this scenario is threatening a nuclear power in Russia, whilst Russia would be threatening a non nuclear power in Ukraine not NATO. The response would be totally different
@_M_Mountain_ Armenia was never attacked, only the Azerbaijani lands it occupied. Pashinyan sold out Karabakh Armenians for a hope of EU membership, and blamed Russia to cover his slimey trail of deceit. Karabakh Azerbaycandir now due to Ermenistan stupidity. They take but give nothing back
@_M_Mountain_@hayqmets That’s just not how international relations work at all. Russia never ‘betrayed’ Armenia. Please grow up and apply some critical thinking
McFaul goes after a prominent member of the Russian Anti-War Committee, declared a Foreign Agent by Moscow and given the Freedom Defenders Award by the US State Dept, because apparently *no* Russian has the right publicly to criticise any democratically elected leader. Awful.
