SONY, I THINK YOUR OWN ARGUMENT JUST COLLAPSED.
Nobody is claiming that buying a copy of a game means I own the copyright to the game.
"That has never been the argument."
If I buy a movie on Blu-ray, I don't own the movie studio's intellectual property.
"I own MY COPY."
If I buy an album on CD, I don't own the artist's music or the record label's copyright.
"I own MY COPY."
Millions of people can own separate copies of the exact same movie, album, book or game at the same time.
We have understood this for generations.
Apparently everyone but you!
And when I own that physical copy, I can put it into compatible hardware and use it. The studio doesn't suddenly get to argue that ownership is impossible because somebody else bought the same movie too.
So why should a video game suddenly be different just because the delivery mechanism changed from a plastic disc to digital data?
That is where Sony's reported legal argument loses me.
I'm not claiming I own Resident Evil.
I'm claiming I paid for MY COPY of Resident Evil.
Those are two completely different things.
And Xbox just made this argument even harder for @Sony to defend.
Microsoft has demonstrated that a physical game can be tied to an individualized digital entitlement.
They don't have to hand the customer the copyright. They don't have to give one person exclusive ownership of the game.
They simply have to recognize that THIS consumer paid for THIS entitlement to access THIS game.
Millions of people can each possess their own entitlement to the same copyrighted work.
"Of course they can."
Sony already assigns digital licenses to millions of PlayStation accounts every day.
So the question was never whether the technology exists.
The question is what rights the consumer receives after Sony puts the word BUY on the screen and takes their money.
Here is the distinction that matters:
I OWN MY COPY.
I DO NOT OWN THE COPYRIGHT.
Movie studios understand that.
Record labels understand that.
Book publishers understand that.
Physical video games have worked that way for decades.
What makes you any different, @Sony?
Digital distribution should not magically erase that concept simply because the corporation has more technical control over the transaction.
And if the customer pays full price while receiving fewer rights and less control, I think consumers have every right to ask who actually benefits from that arrangement.
Sony doesn't need to give me ownership of its intellectual property.
Sony needs to explain why paying full price for my copy should give Sony more control over what I purchased simply because that copy arrived as bits instead of on a disc.
And Xbox has now demonstrated that individualized digital entitlements are absolutely possible.
The movie and music industries have demonstrated the underlying principle for generations.
Sony companies themselves sell movies and music on physical media that consumers can buy, take home and play whenever they want on compatible equipment.
So please explain why video games should suddenly be treated differently.
That makes the legal argument much more difficult to defend.
That's the conversation I think Sony needs to answer.

🎯If you like this content, follow. I stay on top of the latest gaming & tech information. Game On!
Remember when Sony promoted their new vinyl record player less than a month after pretending physical games don’t sell?🚀
Guess what, they deleted that post after being rightfully clowned on for their lies🤣
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
If buying digital games is “obviously” not owning, then why is it the same price as physical games, not less?🚀
A disc can:
✅Be taken anywhere in the world
✅Not tied to an account
✅Can be resold/traded
✅Mostly doesn’t rely on the internet
✅Isn’t region locked
✅Can be found in wide range of prices
✅The best way to preserve media
So again, if a digital-only game is “a license”, then maybe price those at $30-40 since the convenience and safety of having a disc is worth far more.
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY is not a movement that aims to end digital games, it is a reaction to Sony’s plan to end physical media in favor of a digital-only future🚀
What does a digital-only future mean?
❌No ownership
❌Sony’s terrible refund policy
❌Games tied to one account
❌Bad customer support for account issues
❌Games may rely on network & internet
❌No trading or second hand
❌No competition > higher prices
❌No preservation for games
❌64% of countries losing access to games since they have no dedicated PlayStation Store
We aren’t just asking for something nostalgic, but rather keeping balance in the gaming world and giving players options, because ending physical games negatively impact digital gamers too.
Don’t give up💪🏼
Opowieść utrzymana w gęstym sosie noir, gdzie dwóch detektywów... Z głowami kurczaków, muszą rozwiązać intrygę z podziemnego świata owadów.
Gra otrzymała regionalizację cenową - w przypadku ceny w PLN, regularna cena spadła aż o 59%
Thank you @ChickenPoliceG
What about first instalment in the series? 😉

We’ve seen your questions about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered!
Good news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can get back on the Path right where you left off. Your unlocked achievements and trophies will carry over too! ⚔️🏆
PlayStation Blackout’s original duration has ended today. Do you plan on continuing beyond this and keep up the pressure?🚀
Blackout isn’t just about not playing or buying games, it’s about speaking out. There is no single right way to advocate for physical media, as long as you remain relentless and keep your voices loud.
Either way, much respect to everyone who joined and supported, and more power to those of us who will continue until our demands are met🫡
REVISE DIGITAL RIGHTS
BUYING IS OWNERSHIP
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
REPORT: Sony’s plan to end physical game media has reportedly generated enough tension, according to @NWeedle after his Gamescom experience🚀
✅Backlash had impact on their marketing strategies and forcing them to change how they communicate
✅3rd-party developers are preferring not to be associated with Sony at the moment
This is quite likely due to every PlayStation marketing material is being full of comment calling for “NO DISC 💿 NO BUY”
Keep up the pressure and don’t give up. Speak out against ending physical media, vote with your voices and wallets and join the PlayStation Blackout
We don’t hate gaming, we love gaming very much that we refuse to let corporate greed to further ruin it for us.
A digital-only future is NOT evolution, it’s going backwards because it means:
❌No ownership
❌No competition/options for prices
❌No 2nd hand marketing and trading
❌Always being tied to an account
❌Losing games if an account is lost
❌Region-locking
❌64% of the world who have no dedicated PlayStation Store will lose access to games
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
