@KuriosJesu@JoshuaHerr6 I invite you to see how much dishonor of God the Father & Son and Holy Spirit really happens in His church. You might find your own bigotry blinds you from a deeper relationship with the Holy.
I could not care less if the government wants to label the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as non Christian. The Government, nor Baptist Seminaries or the Catholic Church or arm chair X followers does not have authority to bind in heaven the opinion of who is Christian or not.
I am completely content being unique, and set apart from all the conflicting sects of Christianity. After all, the Jews rejected their own Messiah. Poetic symmetry that Christians reject His covenant children when he returns again.
Ha fair hit. I’ll grant you that ‘Utah Mormon culture’ and the actual gospel aren’t always the same animal. There’s a reason we have a word for casserole-and-side-eye Christianity. But that’s exactly my point. where members get judgmental, they’re departing from the doctrine, not living it out. The Book of Mormon spends a remarkable amount of words warning its own readers against exactly that pride. So you’re not catching me in a contradiction you’re actually quoting our own scripture back at us. Guilty culture, sound doctrine. I’ll take that trade.
The same religious establishment that garnishes the tombs of dead prophets can’t recognize the living and prophetic church in front of it. This doesn’t surprise the Lord or frustrate Him. So it shouldn’t frustrate us. The wheat and tares grow together until the harvest.
But here’s the tutor hidden inside the irony: the exact criterion they use to rule us out “the creedal confession” is the very thing the Lord named in the First Vision as the departure. “A form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” They perform the exclusion using the standard the Restoration came to correct. The misclassification meant as a denial ends up announcing our distinctiveness instead of blurring it.
A church quietly folded in with the rest of the sects would lose its claim. Being set apart, even by people who mean it against us, proclaims the very thing they’re withholding. I believe heading towards His return, it is beautifully poetic and historically symmetrical that He who was rejected by His own faith in mortality, sees His covenant people rejected upon His return. This is no coincidence. So I’m not worried if the world accepts me as a Christian. I’m worried that He accepts me as His son.
I think one reason many members of the church do this is they are weary of the gotcha questions and tactics evangelicals have used for decades. The same old tropes. So we would rather focus the attention on the center of the doctrine which is Christ. Everything else is an appendage to Him.
I live in a family where Ferraris and other brands have been a mainstay for decades and I’m telling you, everyone in this family is deeply disappointed that the Prancing Pony is on that abomination. What a waste in R&D dollars. Seems like Ferrari is having a bit of an identity crisis at the moment.
@NickMilo what is your process for moving notes around in your system? Like clippings from the web, do they just stay in your sources/clippings folder or do you move some to other folders based on utility or context?
@elonmusk 48% of my M3 miles are with FSD and it has avoided three accidents for me in that time. Two of which I didn’t even see coming and would have been nasty crashes. I was a Tesla hater before actually owning a Tesla. Best car I have ever owned by a huge margin.
The committee made it abundantly clear it’s not merit based. The playoffs is just the cool kids club and BYU isn’t perceived as a cool kid. ND and the SEC are the cool kids. The whole thing is a sham
@SportyMcSports They have been referred to as friends for quite some time now in the mission field. As a member of our Stake High Council over missionary work I can confirm this. Perhaps it doesn’t reach every one of our members but it is gaining traction.
