@FrankCastebbk9@Sachinettiyil And it still is !
As long as the water is blessed, you can either receive it fully (submerged in the water, as you said) or on the head (fully or not, that is the priests decision).
*This* is Europe.
Europe isn't about unlimited open borders, terminating pregnancies, euthanasia, rainbow flags, secularism.
Europe is about allegiance to Jesus Christ and His Church. All of its art, politics, and culture should reflect this truth.
"Human dignity does not depend on a person’s abilities, wealth or position in life, nor on the right or wrong choices made; instead, it is a gift that precedes and transcends each person, endowed by God as an expression of his unfailing love."
Pope Leo XIV

To everyone who has commented things like:
“Your mum will die”
“Take her to hospital and stop this nonsense belief…”
“You and your mothers have no sense…”
“Your useless god did not heal her …”
I’ve seen these kinds of attacks and judgments since I shared the video of my mum receiving ashes on Ash Wednesday. I’m honestly surprised how quickly people on social media rush to judge without knowing the full facts.
No one asked, but let me be very clear: We have been taking my mum to the hospital consistently. She is under the care of both urologists and gynecologists. She has already been evaluated, and she is booked for surgery followed by chemotherapy as part of her treatment plan. We are doing everything medically recommended.
Receiving ashes on Ash Wednesday is a sacred Catholic tradition, it’s a sign of humility, repentance, and remembrance that we are dust and to dust we shall return. It marks the start of Lent and has nothing to do with rejecting medical care. Practicing her faith in this way does not mean she (or we) think hospitals are unnecessary. Faith and medicine are not opposites; many people, including Catholics worldwide, rely on both.
Some of you assume that anyone who expresses religious belief must be ignoring doctors or choosing “nonsense” over treatment. That’s simply not true in our case, and it’s unfair to project that onto us.
We love my mum deeply more than anyone online ever could. We are doing all we can medically while also supporting her spiritually. Your concern might come from a good place, but the insults, death wishes, and baseless accusations are unnecessary and hurtful.
Please think before you type next time. Facts matter more than quick judgments.
Thank you to those who have shown genuine support and understanding.
