While other children played, Ochanya bled. While other children laughed, Ochanya cried herself to sleep. While other children dreamed of toys and school, Ochanya prayed for death to come faster.

She was 13 when her body finally gave up. Not from sickness. Not from accident. From your evil family. From what you guys did to her night after night, year after year. And you’re looking for Peace? Na god go punish you.

#justiceforochanya is trending because an 8yr old was ra/ped to death by her uncle and his son in Benue state, for five years.

7yr old Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje moved to stay with her Mom’s sister for academic proximity. As she clocked 8, her son Victor Ogbuja started abusing her. His sister caught him, reported to the dad.

The dad, a Lecturer at Benue Polytechnic and a Catholic Knight, scolded his son, and later joined him in molesting the poor minor, they both abused her for 4yrs+, from 2013 to 2018.

Her body finally broke down, after spending two months in hospital they found out she had Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF), a condition that causes urine and faeces to leak uncontrollably, due prolonged sexual assault and neglect.

Eventually, her aunty confessed, the 54yr old father begged, but got arrested, the son Victor ran way till date. The father was charged for homicide and sexual assault.

In 2023, a high court in Makurdi acquitted him, saying the prosecutors didn’t have enough proof, despite two autopsies and a video testimony by Ochanya before she died. The mother, Felicia Ogbuja bagged 5-months jail for neglect.

7yrs later now, Nigerians revisited the case, throwing blames at Mr. Andrew Ogbuja’s daughter who’s popular on twitter, Winifred Ogbuja. Who actually was the first to report when she caught them.
