@Apolitical3678 Both my parents worked and were saving for our colleges and paying bills. We didn't live that kind of life. They worried about money and it was tight. Yes, it was better than now but now as rosy as your depiction.

@kellyqute Good for you. My book club reads a lot of historical fiction and blatant anachronisms annoy me. Like the one set in the 1950s where one character was described as a "trophy wife"
