@antisocialbritt thank you for your thread. I’m inspired to create a thread of young adult books that discuss race & racism. Anybody can feel free to add to this list:
Tonight I can’t be positive. A 25 year old fighting ALS passed away. Her name was Jaci. Her family had already lost her twin, Alex, to ALS.
She was a warrior. Let’s build an army to finish her fight. Follow me and I’ll follow you. Together we will make her legacy ending ALS.
As twitter pulses with tweets about impeachment, I wanted to inject a thread about family.
It is often said that when a person is diagnosed with a terminal illness, their entire family is also diagnosed as no one can fight this fight on their own.
I am living proof.
Every person living with ALS matters.
Every death from ALS hurts equally.
We rise each morning and fight for treatments and cures for all of us. I've lost too many good friends, shed too many tears to ever rest while I'm breathing.
And I plan on breathing for a long time.
On my flight last night a stranger in the seat next to me helped me repeatedly with my bags. Later in the flight, I offered to pick up the beer he ordered as a thank you. He declined because “people should just do good things for others.”

In May @60Minutes aired a feature on #FTD & we saw a significant boost in website visits & HelpLine calls. Help us increase awareness again by letting all of your contacts know that "The Cruelest Disease You've Never Heard Of..." will re-air on 9/15 @ 7pm: https://t.co/nfIqdtJtnh
As long as I have a voice, I will use it.
As long as I have legs, I will stand and fight.
As long as I have breath, I will live for today and dream of tomorrow.
When I falter, I know you will be there to carry on the fight. So even then, I will smile.

Right now, 40 million Americans are serving as unpaid family #caregivers for a loved one. Actor @RobLowe, who was a #carepartner for his mom during his 30s, writes in @USAToday about how to navigate the mental, physical & emotional stress of #caregiving: https://t.co/GAW4j8su8f
Me: [walk/shuffle towards @lyft and then sit down]
Driver: you have a foot injury?
Me: Foot is okay. The walk is unfortunately because I have ALS.
Driver: ...
Me: It’s...
Driver: I’m so sorry. Can I give you a hug at the end of the ride.
Me: Absolutely.
