Of all the short stories I’ve written, my favorite is Wayfaring Stranger. In this Christian fantasy tale, a simple farmer does battle with evil wizards in his quest to save one scared little girl.
The best part is, the ebook is available for only 99¢!

@uncle_deluge I read Pope’s version of the Iliad last summer and I’m reading his Odyssey now! Fantastic poetry, it really does stand as an excellent work of the English language
The last few weeks, I’ve been doing more labor intensive work & trying to get in shape. It’s quite helpful for my writing - hauling heavy gear uphill is hard work, and not everyone can do it! Good storytellers (like Tolkien) know how hard it is to travel long distances with gear
@JeffyIsFat As an archaeologist, my favorite prop was the GIANT Folsom point spears they had. The real points are quite a bit smaller, maybe the length of a finger! I’ve found a few Paleoindian points, but no Folsoms yet…
I’m currently reading Alexander Pope’s translation of the Odyssey. My friend is reading Emily Wilson’s version. I really feel like we need to sit down and compare notes after this
Chatting with some folks from church and I mentioned I’d checked out the Odyssey from the library. Guy pointed at me and shouted “AHA! So you’re the one!” Guess he’d tried to check it out as well
Update: I traced the family, found out the owner’s great granddaughter is a neat old lady who lives nearby! Since I ended up with it, she may not have wanted it originally, but I sent an email asking if she wanted it back, just in case it was something she didn’t know about
One of the books in the Hoard had this neat poetic inscription, taken from Lord Byron’s poem “To Thomas Moore”. I’m hoping to find the recipient on genealogy websites and see if they have any living relatives, it’d be a neat thing to give back to the family if they want it!
