So glad to see the pendulum going back to a more pragmatic and sensible stands. 100% agree with the below post and it has been also my direct experiences.
The 21st century skills movement has overpromised and underdelivered because it ignores the domain specificity of expertise. Critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration are not transferable generic capacities that can be taught in the abstract.
Really glad to see this point being made about generic skills in a new review of curricula in 14 school systems: https://t.co/QkTQBmFBrv

As much as I do not enjoy bureaucrats, I have always seen benefits to the EU. Thank you for reminding us some of them. I am
Ok to give up sovereignty for some more years of good and healthy life.
Theres a very long list of US products that cannot be sold in the EU thanks to EU regulations. Since the favorite pastime of the Trump regime and every US oligarch is now to demonize EU regulations, I thought it would be very much worth going through some of those products.🧵
@TR202018@rshereme Eventually it will … but without real competitions American companies wouldn’t be compelled to innovate as much. So their products will stay expensive without innovation.
Brilliant! Thanks for pulling all of this and creating this more nuanced story which doesn't really fall into the black/white dichotomy we are reading lately. It is a human traits to play with rules and system once one is created. How we we make this system work now?
H-1B DATA MEGA-THREAD 🧵
I downloaded five years of H-1B data from the US DOL website (4M+ records) and spent the day crunching data.
I went into this with an open mind, but, to be honest, I'm now *extremely* skeptical of how this program works.
Here's what I found 👇
This really hits a ‘ahah’ moment. It seems so right. Have we done it all so wrong ? She is in art but I could say the same in other branches of knowledge like math.
@LoneStockTrader Very interesting comment. And I think I can see why. I teach math and i have done so many years to high achievers. I can see why it would be a frustrating endeavor for them. Maybe a more pure quant environment would suit them better .
@staunovo I enjoy when I can click on a link, article is not behind a paywall and it is not just self-promotion. Enjoyed the article and tends to agree with J. Rogers (even if quite vague on the timeline)
Typical neo imperialism from the BBC journalist. This time however he was rebuffed.
We don't have the right to tell poor countries not to develop their resources.
Plus climate change is a demand problem not a supply problem.
