@katrinakalamat1 A6: Within our PLC and my classroom there is a lot of voice, choice and critical thinking. I would like to see more opportunities for innovation and true reflection for the students.

@katrinakalamat1 A5: The best place to access information is through daily discussions and conversations with those that are around you on a daily basis. Our building has so many talented educators to learn from! The best way to start is to ask questions and observe PLC's and educators in action.

@katrinakalamat1 A4: When students are given a choice then more creation happens. I work to give my students as much choice as possible through activities such as "Genius Hours" or allowing students choices in how they are going to share information they have learned.

@katrinakalamat1 A3: I work hard to give students as much choice as possible throughout the day with performance based learning options. Differentiation also happens with flexible grouping. Moving to personalized learning is a challenge due to the many district & state expectations & constraints.

@katrinakalamat1 Our school does a fantastic job of coming together as a community for each other & common causes. Our building is so supportive of each other & our students. Using the support & trust we have, it would be great to focus more on student interests and student-led initiatives.

@katrinakalamat1 A1: My team does well with sharing ideas & resources with each other. We do well creating common formative assessments & having constant communication about pacing. We also know each other well enough to be able to utilize each other's strengths when working on grade level tasks.

@katrinakalamat1 A1: Building relationships is all about taking the time to build trust. The best way to do this is to truly listen without judgement. Once you have trust, great conversations and collaboration can happen.

@katrinakalamat1 A2: All it takes is a smile and a quick, "Hello" to get a conversation started in the hallway or at recess. Its amazing how once you make that simple connection, they will seek you out too! It's important for kids to know that they are valued and supported.

@katrinakalamat1 I continually reflect throughout the day, while I am setting up for the day,observing students engaging in the lesson, talking & brainstorming with my team, lesson planning, etc. I am always looking for new district approved ways to use technology.

@katrinakalamat1 A4: Allowing for more choice and exploration throughout the year & for a variety of subjects. I find that social studies and science tend to lend themselves to creation
and exploring/digging deeper into content more. I have been trying to focus this year on including math too.

@katrinakalamat1 A5: Choice, voice, and critical thinking happen with my students on a daily basis. I am continuing to work on building problem finding by finding ways to work in opportunities for students to explore situations on their own rather than me giving them the problem to solve.

@katrinakalamat1 A6. "What if we empowered students to make a difference in the world today and in the future?" Think of the possibilities and the amazing things we would see if we found a way to focus on this more! Kids are so much more capable then society sometimes gives them credit for.
