Since the Winter Olympics is underway, this is the perfect time to post Surya Bonaly doing her back flip on ice. Judges used to underscore her and I loved that she did the backflip in her last performance before retiring as a big FU to the establishment.
Of course Atlantic writers are defending Bari Weiss. Many (not all) at the magazine have the same stance as her: nominal centrists, rhetorically disdainful of Trump, but advancing a substantive politics that is profoundly reactionary.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I don’t want my tax dollars going to bailout farmers who overwhelmingly voted for the man who bankrupted them. They need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and stop relying on the government assistance they are against.
9-5 was not designed for *anyone* actually. It’s nothing to do with our hormonal cycles vs theirs and everything to do with ~capitalism~.
Besides, prior to the 40 hr work week people worked 10-16 hours per day on avg. The 40 hour work week was the result of decades of activism.

There really isn't an apology that could sufficiently cover for the sheer volume, recency and pure vileness of her comments but generic light/dark platitudes and using her own marginalization and community as a shield in it makes this infinitely more disingenuous
The mass deportation of illegal immigrants is a racist purge of the Latino and Black communities. Notice no raids of the Russian community in Brighton Beach or the Irish community of Boston, where known undocumented immigrants regularly live. No European immigrant communities raided
I suspect that most of AOC’s colleagues knows she’s completely capable of leading the House Oversight Committee, which has become much more about communications lately than actual investigations.
Many are jealous of her boldness to challenge while they’ve been waiting.
