We are proud of passing @SeriousRita motion to join the network of cities and towns which promote the inclusion and welfare of people who are fleeing violence and persecution and become a recognised Borough of Sanctuary.
The way to stop small boat crossings is to provide safe routes so that the families risking their lives to reach the UK have an alternative. Not easy but - unlike the Prime Minister’s plan - workable, as the help for Ukrainian refugees has shown.

This is a safe, welcoming space for young people seeking sanctuary, often children who have travelled all alone to the UK.
