I assume you asked me because I’ve taught electrical engineering and been employed for 15 years as an industry physicist in aerospace.

No, this is not the same as microwaves. What determines if an EM wave can deposit energy into your body is the frequency. Radio waves are too long of wavelength / low of frequency to deposit any energy into your body, they go right through you without interacting at all.

Microwaves are much, much higher frequency. That’s why there’s an aluminum mesh on the inside of your microwave door. That’s why you can’t walk up to a microwave dish. That’s why they lower the gain on Aegis radar beams when sailors are on the flight deck of an adjacent vessel.

The charging battery of an iPhone is emanating very weak long wavelength photos as the battery charges.

It’s not cooking you. They’re going right through you. And as you noticed, just 4 or 5 inches away and the field strength is half or less.
