Charlie Kirk.
I wanted to take some time before saying anything, but it’s not healthy to sit here and fester in grief and anger. So I’m going to attempt to express how I’m feeling here.
I am so grateful to God for the years that Charlie Kirk and I got to spend on this earth at the same time.
I grew up in a family that was always politically vocal. As early as I can remember, they would always talk about how terrible Barack Obama was. I was 7 years old for the majority of 2012. At that point, I was in public elementary school in California. I remember our class doing basic civics activities, and I remember specifically we had to make an art project for our favorite presidential candidate. So, of course, I made mine in favor of Mitt Romney.
When I looked around and saw how many friends made their projects in favor of Barack Obama, I was shocked. I didn’t know why we liked Romney over Obama, I just knew that we did.
Fast forward a few years, we had moved to Texas and I had begun homeschooling. I remember always hearing about Trump, and I liked him a lot. My parents preferred Ted Cruz, but I just knew there was something special about Donald Trump. When I told my church friends just how much I liked Trump, I would get sideways looks and disbelief from them.
I never knew how to defend my positions, and to be completely honest, they weren’t educated positions. They were imposed, to an extent. But I feel as though my beliefs, even though I was so young, were intrinsic to my being, that they were right, even if I didn’t know how they were right.
In early 2020, I was shown a video livestream of a church service from @calvarycch, Pastor @RealJackHibbs. He was doing a “current events update” with @charliekirk11, a young man who I felt drawn to while watching.
It seemed to me like Charlie’s goal was to help me put my beliefs into words and action. I continued to follow Charlie Kirk and @TPUSA throughout the COVID years. In October of 2021, my dad took me to see Charlie speak at Baylor University in Waco. At that point, Turning Point was big, but not nearly as big as they are today.
Charlie had time for Q&A at all of his campus stops, and so, I went up to ask him a question. As an incoming senior, I had felt so burnt out by school, and I didn’t want to pursue college. But I knew, because of Charlie’s example, that I wanted to pursue ministry through politics. I asked him how I could get into the political field without a college degree, like he did.
His response was to find someone in this field, and offer to work for them. He told me how much they love young people getting involved. He gave me great insight on how to break into this field, and so, I took what he said, and used it.
After graduation, I was working in a coffee shop in Salado. On a random morning, I recognized Rep. @BradBuckleyDVM sitting for coffee. So, I approached him, introduced myself, and offered to work for him.
I couldn’t tell you what Brad saw in me, but he offered me a job. I worked on his General Election Campaign in 2022, where I was introduced to the @BellCountyYRs, and the rest is really history.
My point here is that I wouldn’t be close to where I’m at if it wasn’t for the input and advocacy of Charlie Kirk. I was still a regular listener of his program until today.
Charlie’s assassination stands as a Turning Point in America. My, and many of my peers Charlie influenced, resolves are stronger than ever. Charlie is a martyr for something greater than even he could ever do.
I am eternally grateful for Charlie’s input in my life, and I will not let him, Brad, or anyone down in my pursuit of the goals Charlie and I shared.
God be with his family today, as I ask that He be with me, too, in this time of immense grief.
The enthusiasm last night with the @FloridaYRs was truly amazing.
A great group of young people ready to fight to keep Florida free and finish the mission.
The future is bright!
Had a wonderful time at The Leadership Institute’s Campaign Leadership College. This intensive 9-day course in the Advanced School of Politics was challenging, thorough, and engaging. I’m proud to say my team won first place on our cumulative campaign presentation! It was an honor to get to know these individuals from across the US, and I look forward to engaging with them when we cross paths again in the future. Onwards to November!
Question for MAGA from a liberal woman. "Hi, I'm just wondering if you guys who voted for Trump – did you vote for the Department of Education to be dismantled? Because that's what he's doing right now.
Texas Representative @MattShaheen of Prosper:
“Ken Paxton stands strong in protecting women’s privacy, he stands strong in protecting our jobs and our economy. He is clearly the person to vote for this November.”
Rollins on @MillerForTexas: “He is dangerous at this point. He lost re-election with a Trump endorsement … In Texas, you have to do a lot of things wrong to get defeated pretty significantly in a Republican primary with a Trump endorsement.”
Low‑T Talarico is running a vegan, soft‑on‑border, soft‑on‑crime campaign and trying to pass it off as Texas.
@GovHotWheels_TX and the Coastal Bend YRs are in Corpus to remind Democrats this state was built by ranchers and roughnecks, not by tofu‑eating TikTok politicians.
One thing stands out immediately: he wrote that he "ran as a Republican," not that he is one.
That's an important distinction. Public voting records show Dunlap has never voted in a Republican primary.
After two unsuccessful campaigns, the most recent finishing last with just 7% of the vote, this is just the politics of a sore loser. So who cares?
