#CD7 In the future I want to do therapy for kids with disabilities. Often therapists treat people with disabilities using the medical model - looking at them as having "something wrong with them" which is harmful. Courses and increased close experience could help this.
@OliviaLouden @psyc220 #CD7 @psyc220 I agree with the fact that sometimes older people, even if they are therapist aren't fully aware of the effects of social media on mental health so updated courses could help with that.
@ScoutJSF @psyc220 #cd7 @psyc220 This is a good point because teaching has changed since a lot of therapists have received their degrees so having them take new certification classes could help like you said!
#220Ethics @psyc220 This tweet by Ted Cruz appeals to the ethics of community because he focuses on immigrants as the outgroup which creates the loyalty to the in-group. In this case, creating this outgroup directly hurts people.
The Democrats’ TOP priority is staying in power.
They want to make DC and Puerto Rico states to put more Dems in the Senate.
They want to allow illegal aliens to vote to elect more Democrats.
Everything else is secondary. #Verdict

@psycd_Emilia @psyc220 #CD6 @psyc220 This is a great example that I did not think about! We often group people into categories to make it easier for us although they have different identities.
@benne4al @psyc220 #CD6 @psyc220 I agree that this was not talked about very much and that it results in inequality. SES status can also intersect with gender, location, and many other social factors.
#CD6 @psyc220 One intersection of oppression that was not talked about is Islamophobia. An example of this is how Muslims were discriminated against following the attack on 9/11. Their religion intersected with their location of living in the United States.
@pagdag220 @psyc220 #CD5a @psyc220 I agree that this is a huge issue, our bus system, parking availability, and the distance of parking completely disables people with any mobility issue.
@davitch_peyton @psyc220 #CD5a @psyc220 This is a great example and I think that the key part is that she isn't doing anything special in the picture which makes her disability the "exceptional" part.
#CD5b @psyc220 This picture is the woman in the ted talk. With the concept of inspiration porn, we take away the ability for disabled people to have typical jobs and lives because we make it that anything they do is inspirational.
@psycd_Emilia @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD5b That is really frustrating to hear because if we are looking at the social model, society created these disabilities so this perspective further disables them.
@LizzieBryan0357 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD5b I agree that this image is really harmful because the person in the picture is doing a simple task but they are being turned into an object of inspiration.
#CD5a @psyc220 A lot of our old buildings on campus do not have elevator accessibility which limits any students or teachers who use wheelchairs or have mobility issues.
@lucypericone @psyc220 #CD4 @psyc220 This is a great point and we do see feminism being a way that people come together to fight against oppression. I think it is really important for people not affected by gender discrimination as much to join us too.
@AllieMelville15 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD4 Totally agree with the fact that not only women experience discrimination and the unicorn picture shows how many levels there is to it.
@psyc220 #CD4 Feminism is so important to advocate for equal opportunities for not only women but all gender minorities. This also should not only be for white women but also all women of color and disabled women too. Men being feminist is so vital too!
#creativity220 Creativity is important because nothing would ever happen without different people thinking of new things to try, talk about, or do which all stems from their various creativities
@psycd_Emilia #Cd3b @psyc220 I also am not fully aware of the situation in England which makes the labeling of immigrants as violent that much more dangerous because without knowing context, it is easy to just believe what is written.
@ElliePsyc220 @psyc220 #CD3b @psyc220 This was interesting and I agree talks about such a huge fear of immigrating families. There has been so many instances that families are ripped apart at the border.
