@smit28em @psyc220 I completely agree there is prejudice within the justice system, and I think my mentality going into this field knowing what i’ve learned from cultural psychology can get rid of stigmas around criminals when interrogating them
@psyc220 #CD7 My goal is to become a criminal psychologist that works with criminals when they commit crimes to figure out why they committed that crime. I feel as if there is not enough psychologists who understand the ways to interrogate/interview criminals appropriately
@lucypericone @psyc220 I agree that familial therapy is not looked at the same as someone alone seeking therapy. It is okay for families to need a little bit do additional help to make sure their mental health is intact
@sydn31 @psyc220 I am interested in this field as well and I completely agree that there are biases and stereotypes about criminals that I would want to educate people to not entertain those biases when working with criminals
@220_alexis @psyc220 Exactly when they in fact could be working just as hard as those in the higher SES classes just don’t get as many advantages because of their status
@psyc220 #CD6 An intersection that wasn’t talked about is classism. There‘a bias against people in low a SES class, they are seen as minorities and people in high a SES class are seen as superior. There’s differential value that creates inequality & basic human rights are not met
@jdvick23 @psyc220 #220ethics I agree that this is an example of the ethic of community because it can protect the fairness of certain groups by having an obligation to vote and make sure they are represented
#220Ethics @psyc220 This tweet is an example of ethic of autonomy because it is protecting fairness in the sense that more people can now have the opportunity at health care which should be available to everyone
Last week, voters in South Dakota chose to expand access to Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, making it possible for more than 40,000 South Dakotans to access health care.
With this good news, 39 states have now expanded Medicaid since 2012.

@Reagankidd10 @psyc220 This is a super good point that needs to be talked about more. There is prejudice towards Muslims because of the 9/11 attack and they are treated unfairly and looked down upon
@lucypericone @psyc220 I really like how you pointed how that people of different races face discrimination due to their SES class. People who are in higher SES classes are seen as superior and have prejudice towards different races
@psyc220 #cd5a Some barriers for people with disabilities on campus include limited handicap parking and buildings that are not wheelchair accessible. There’s already little parking, they may have to travel farther to get to class and it’s harder for them to navigate buildings
@Katevonnii @psyc220 Thank you, It makes me sad that people who experience a disability are judged and not given the same opportunities most of the time because they are different
@psyc220 #cd5b This is an example of inspiration porn because it teaches us just because someone has a disability doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of just as much as us. They also can inspire us to be good people and become thankful for what we are able to do compared to them
