@nicklas_megan @psyc220 #CD7 Criminal psychology is very interesting and I agree that there are a lot of stereotypes out there lead to a lack of care towards the patient. I think that looking at context and environment could really help break down those stereotypes and build compassion.
@lucypericone @psyc220 #CD7 I agree with you and think that the normalization of family therapy should be advocated for. It is something that can change lives and bring satisfaction to people.
#CD7 @psyc220 In my future career I would like to counsel youth in school systems. I feel there is a big risk of reinforcing systems that do not serve students in the best way possible. To avoid this, I'd learn about the individual and their context in society before moving on.
@benne4al @psyc220 @benne4al @psyc220 #CD6 I agree that classism carries a lot of disparities regarding treatment and resources. And, when intersecting identities are involved, the disparities can grow larger.
@jackie_stanaway @psyc220 @jackie_stanaway @psyc220 #CD6 I agree that ageism interacts with discrimination. If someone is considered a senior citizen while also having intersecting identities, such as being LGBTQ, they are more likely to be treated differently/worse than a white, cis senior citizen.
@psyc220 #CD6 Mental health is a form of marginalization not expanded upon in the book. Based on the video, doctors tend to diagnose differently depending on different intersecting identities. This leads to people not getting the treatments they deserve based on their identities.
#cd5a @psyc220 a barrier I've noticed at JMU is its' lack of accessibility in central dorm locations such as the Village and Hillside. They have no elevators, narrow hallways, and a lack of accommodations. These are some of the most popular and conveniently located dorms.

Feminism has a big role in ending oppression. It’s ideals surround acceptance and innovative solutions to issues of oppression while considering all view-points. Through this, solidarity can be built between all those who suffer oppression.
#CD3a @psyc220 The reason why some might not believe that racism and other prejudices exist is because they're experiencing the transparency phenomena (people's whiteness makes them invisible). Those who are experiencing that are also those that cannot experience racism firsthand

This message illustrates the point that those who have autism are not suffering, they simply think differently, which is not a bad thing. This falls under critical multiculturalism because it is trying to fix how society views autistic individuals.

If I could travel and experience any culture I would go to Ireland, because half of my family is from there and there is beautiful scenery.
