@lucypericone @psyc220 I agree. I had a conversation about therapy and mental illnesses with my older family over thanksgiving. Although they were against the ideas, they were open to having an educational conversation and they opened their minds. Simple conversations can change people's opinions.#CD7
@Reagankidd10#CD7 I agree, even the small things like incorrect terminology can negatively impact someone. Educating yourself, your coworkers and the public can be a beneficial solution.
#CD7 @psyc220 I want to be a criminal psychologist for the FBI in the future. I think it's important to look at and remember the biases and stereotypes about "criminals" (including race, gender, SES). I would want to educate the public and myself about these biases.
@lucypericone @psyc220 #220Ethics @psyc220I agree with you that this is the ethics of community. Obama is making sure the community exercises their rights to vote
@psyc220 #220Ethics Gillibrand is concerned about the ethics of autonomy and community here. This shows the ethics of autonomy because morality is protecting their rights as workers. This is showing the ethics of community because these workers feel betrayed by their companies.
I was proud to stand with @SBWorkersUnited at the NYC Roastery in February when they were unionizing — and I'm proud to stand with them now while they're on strike. All workers deserve safe, clean working conditions.
@gillian_baseri @psyc220 #CD5a @psyc220 I agree with you. Just because someone has a disability does not automatically make them inspirational. Most are simply living normal lives like the rest of the population.
@4ngel4tr4n @psyc220 #CD5a @psyc220 I have tripped over these bricks multiple times before. I have also tripped over the Starships before which can also be a problem for people with disabilities.
@ecdeboe @psyc220 #CD5b @psyc220 I hate posts like these. It makes the guy seem like a hero and the best person ever when in fact he is just being a regular person taking someone to the prom. It is almost like he is using her disability to gain respect.
@JordynCrane123 @psyc220 I never thought about this being inspiration porn until now. I see this on my TikTok all the time and it truly is sad and disgusting. Parents should never exploit their children for fame or money. #CD5b @psyc220
#CD5b @psyc220 This image shows inspiration porn because people are cheering on a person in a wheelchair during a race. The people cheering think that he is so inspirational when he is just in fact doing what everyone else can do.
#CD5a @psyc220 I feel like JMUs location is a barrier to people with disabilities. There are many hills that can be troubling to get across. There are not many handicapped commuter parking spaces either. Most residence or dining halls are not equipped with handicapable equipment.
@zakeroja @psyc220 #CD4 I agree with you and the rest of the comments. Women are not the only ones impacted by gender-based oppression. Terms like "toxic masculinity" are used and the stigma attached to it is negative.
@ElliePsyc220 @psyc220 #CD4 I agree with your statement about solidarity. Gender-based oppression should have more awareness and should be discussed in schools.
#CD4 @psyc220 Feminism means to be inclusive of everyone to me. Feminism plays a role in ending oppression because it motivates minorities to speak up for what they need and believe. Feminism has no expectations or labels toward masculinity and feminity
@vansicjl @psyc220 @psyc220
#CD3b This is crazy. I don't understand how government officials have the guts to even think these policies are okay. If these weren't immigrants, they would be treated so differently.
@4ngel4tr4n @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD3b The picture provided gives a great representation of the message that is said. The US loves to bring up things in the past that were once okay but now are not. But they are blind to their own policies and laws
@GraceDpsyc220 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD3a This is so true! Even though we may not see racism every day people cannot ignore the fact that it still exists. You can give people real-life examples of discrimination such as those seen in laws.
@psyc220 (2/2) Race and ethnic prejudices affect the distribution of wealth. These are migrants with no legal status and have the chance to be deported even after providing the help that this country needs.
#CD3b @psyc220 Venezuelan migrants were transported from NYC to Florida to help with Hurricane Ian's cleanup. They will only bet minimum wage for the dangerous and unsanitary help If they were US citizens they would be treated with much more respect and get paid more. (1/2)
