#ethics220 @psyc220 In this tweet Vice President Kamala Harris is expressing an ethical appeal in which bringing people's attention to vote for the midterm election. It is our right to vote and she is supporting everyone to do so.
Democracy is stronger when everyone participates and is weaker when people are left out.
To the poll workers and officials who worked tirelessly to protect our right to vote—thank you.
@jackie_stanaway @psyc220 #CD6 @psyc220 Love this response Jackie! I also talked about ageism and thinking about my grandparents and how that ties into gender roles. Older people are seen as less able to take care of themselves or provide for themselves.
@benne4al @psyc220 #CD6 @psyc220 I definately agree that classism is a type of oppression. People of lower SES tend to not have access to the same opportunities higher SES people do.
This type of oppression can then go into gender based oppression. My grandmother still feels this duty to always be helping around the house cooking or cleaning but then someone younger will step in to help her. #CD6 @psyc220

@HottleAudrey @psyc220 Hi Audrey! Our campus is a work out and for someone with disabilities it can be seen as impossible. I actually wrote the same response because I feel as though our campus is hard to navigate and the bus system is so extremely crowded that it is impossible to get on sometimes.
@jackie_stanaway @psyc220 Hi Jackie! This is such a great example of a barrier and it is not talked about enough. I really liked your response and feel like this is something our university can work on.
This relates back to the Ted Talk and how the woman speaking introduced the term inspiration porn. One thing I think about is how many hills our campus has and how difficult that is for someone with physical disabilities to get around. In tours I have seen this problem first hand
#CD5a @psyc220 I feel as though people with disabilities are often either isolated or emphasized. The way society sees people with disabilities as superheroes because they undermine the people with disabilities and think they cannot do what other people do.
@zakeroja @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD4 You have great ideas Jenna and I agree that gender based oppression covers those groups and even in some scenarios males assigned at birth are affected as well.
I really feel for gender nonconforming children especially boys who get teased throughout life for not being the society golden straight male. And then if boys assigned at birth act a certain way they become "like a girl". Why are we using a gender negatively to describe someone?
@psyc220 #CD4 Feminism is going the extra mile to help gender inequality become nonexistent. Women and minorities have been oppressed far too long because they are seen as inferior. What leads these groups to solidarity is the fact that they are strong as a unit. 1/2
@pagdag220 @psyc220 @psyc220 #CD4 I really liked your response Paige. I think it is important to acknowledge all of the different groups outside of the straight male as you mentioned.
@pagdag220 @psyc220 I think this is a very important point of view that you shared. I completely agree with everything you said and think you countered it well. #cd3a @psyc220
@jackie_stanaway @psyc220 I agree with your opinion completely Jackie. It is so crazy to me that people don't see racism as an issue to me, but they are unaware of the world around them. @psyc220 #cd3a
@GraceDpsyc220 @psyc220 Such a great point Grace! Definitely agree with this point of view. People often turn a blind eye because it doesn't directly affect them. #cd3a @psyc220
